I don't know how new it is, but this video just went up an hour ago. However, I think this guy already talked about some of this stuff, so I don't know.

I'm very excited. I already have like 15 builds since it's just D&D 5e, and I make characters there a lot.

If you've never played D&D before, you can use a free account on D&D Beyond and have up to 6 characters saved. You don't have access to all the classes/races, but you'll have most of them.

These are the types of games that I love in theory but hate in practice because I suck ass at them and never get the combat right.

Don't know if 3 is going to be like the originals though

More like Original Sin 2, but much better because you can go all that way in and see all the characters clearly unlike in the other games like this [BG 1+2, D:OS 1+2, Neverwinter, ect] where it's more of a top down. This game has that as well, of course

Some notes so far -

So, originally it was that you rolled for Initiative [Turn order] and then it was 1 team goes and then the next team would go. This was going to allow the human team in multiplayer to pretty much go at the same time without having to wait for your turn.

But they got some negative feedback, so now it's just everyone rolls for Initiative like normal, and takes their turn when it comes up. But they kept some of the original idea - If two of your characters are up next, you can change between them freeldy or go at the same time. All of this is to make combat go a bit quicker and to focus more on team synergy

One of the best things I enjoy about the news coming from the game is the Stealth mechanic. As you get closer to enemies in the you'll be rolling Passive Perception checks to see if any of your characters notice the mobs before they notice you. If any of them do, they'll get an icon over their head to let you know something is in the area your character can see.

Then you can enter Sneak mode, and unlike Original Sin 2, this will break down into a turn base thing as well. You move, they move, ect. In Original Sin 2 you had to try to Sneak around in real time, so the mobs where always moving around and it was hard to set up ambushes.

The game is also going to be using light and dark cover when it comes to sneaking.

I've never played 5e, but I understand that they made things a bit more accessible for mages in the early levels, as well as put more of an emphasis on character building instead of meta-gaming.

I love that this is gonna be turn-based, I might finally be able to get really into a Baldur's Gate game this way

also wonder how feasible it would be for mods/custom campaigns/whatever to recreate the older games with the new gameplay <_<

I've never played 5e, but I understand that they made things a bit more accessible for mages in the early levels, as well as put more of an emphasis on character building instead of meta-gaming.

The main mages are - Wizard, Druid, Sorcerer, Cleric and Warlock, and each of those have their own sub-class you get at Level 3

Here is a Level 1 Wizard I just made to show you what it could look like -

Each spell caster has different ways on how they use magic. A Wizard, for example, has their book. They have to have their book to cast spells, but you can have a shit-ton of spells to pick from.

Sorcerer have magic in their bloodline, so they can just cast them and do other unique things to make normal spells even better

Warlocks have made a pact with some sort of being [A devil, an alien, a sword, ect] to gain their power. They don't get as many Spells as the others, but they also cast them at the highest level.

Since you've never played 5e before, I"ll explain that real quickly. Each spell casting class gets these things called Spell Slots. With the Wizard I just made you, you have 2 Spell Slots you can use. Here is your Level 1 spells I gave you -

The first 4 are all Cantrips, you can cast these as many times as you want. The Second List under 1st Level, on the right you'll see you have 2 spell slots. That means you can cast any of those 1st level spells twice. As you level up you'll get more spells slots to use, and then you'll get hight level slots and magic

It might be 2-3 years away, they said, but they do plan on a DM mode like they have in Original Sin 2
