He has this thing every year in South Caroline, this guy lives in Georgia btw. He also says corona is a hoax and brings up that mortality rate fallacy whenever confronted. In addition, I don't know the other people going too well, but I know they have been partying at bars and ****. After the spike in cases in the south, I told him I did not feel comfortable going due to spike in cases and that I was abstaining this year and he's all like the cases are just rising due to increased testing and that he'll make everyone take a test before coming.

We canceled our yearly trip to my dad's hometown up north for fourth of July because we didn't feel comfortable going to a gathering of 20+ people.

If it makes you feel better, Im currently skipping all the family getting together today over my grandpa's death. I can't play around with this stuff man. I understand that it sucks and my grandpa deserves his family being together to mourn his life, but me potentially getting sick isn't gonna make the situation better.

Also. I was raised with no birthday celebrations, so birthdays just come off as entitled and childish to me. Like, cool if you can get a lot of people together to have fun (not so cool right now either), but don't guilt trip people who can't or don't want to go (especially now).
