And yet barely any deaths are being reported. I'm just having a tough time believing this now. A bunch of folks who don't care about wearing masks or staying home, they haven't for the whole duration of this virus, are the same people so quick to get tested if sick. People who don't think the virus is anything aren't gonna be the ones going gee I gotta get tested. Really feel like there's funny business going on. There's no way all of a sudden there's more cases than ever before with way less deaths. And if that is legitimately the case then who cares it's not killing anyone anymore.

This is the governor and Florida GOP's take. And it makes sense if you don't look ahead. The deaths are down because a large number of the new cases are from younger people. The problem is that the hospitals are filling up as the virus spreads to the more vulnerable populations. Treatment has gotten better so people are dying less but there is a limit to the number of people they can treat based on the ability to take people into the hospital. Once that limit gets hit there will be a spike in deaths and Florida is not far from that.

They haven't been reporting hospitalizations correctly too. So that has added to the mess.

My wife works at a hospital in Florida. She gets a report with day by day numbers. Prior to reopening, the highest number of Covid positive hospital patients was 54 on April 8th. That was the peak before lockdown caused numbers to go down to around 8 in end of April.

The latest numbers she has are from this past Thursday and there are currently 244 patients hospitalized with Covid.

I live in MA and I know like 7 people that have been to Florida in the past few weeks. Them not shutting down also made a bunch of people think it was a good idea to go there and not wear masks

I'm ashamed to be a floridian at this point. My friends tell me of civilians lining up at fireworks stores backed together with no masks. I am staying in the house till mid next week when I have to buy groceries. I hate this place right now.

Oh also, the chick fil a I work for has had two covid-19 positive employees and remains open. And the owner lied about the fact there were two individuals, and lied about the mortality rate saying it was . 025 percent when it's actually four to five percent right now
