Chiang Kai-shek's Kuomintang government was wildly corrupt. It also lost the war and fled to Taiwan. So not likely to happen. Honestly, what Hong Kong needs to do is burn to the ground. China wants it for the infrastructure and corporations. The people who live there should burn it all to the ground and leave. The Chinese want it? Let them rebuild it.

The law applies to anyone, anywhere in the world
The law is expansively extraterritorial in its scope. According to Article 38, it can apply even to offenses committed "outside the region by a person who is not a permanent resident of the region."
That means an American penning an editorial for a U.S. newspaper that argues for, say, sanctions against China, could technically fall afoul of the law for "inciting hatred" against Beijing.
"It is asserting extraterritorial jurisdiction over every person on the planet," wrote Donald Clarke, a law professor at George Washington University, noting that the national security law is even more broad in scope than China's own criminal law.
Foreign media outlets, NGOs and other international organizations could also face more stringent regulation and censorship in Hong Kong. Article 54 calls for stricter management of such entities.

The U.S. has regressed on the world stage under Trump, through his rhetoric & policy changes. Our influence has dwindled and weve been letting China step in to take charge.

Stop using Chinese products and apps. It's impossible to completely use nothing from China but stuff like Tik Tok or frivolous apps are a way to start. I believe there's actually hope to get companies to stop working with China since quite a few have actually stopped advertising through Facebook after deciding (finally) that Facebook has no moral ground besides a bottom line. So if pressure is applied from the public and on the internet, we could pressure companies to not work with China. It's a long shot but it's not impossible.

India is currently at odds with China and banned Tik Tok among many other apps so the timing right now is actually great. China has been having its cake and eating it too for far too long...

Sales of virtual private network software, used to jump over Chinese-style Internet controls and evade some digital surveillance, have skyrocketed in Hong Kong.
On Wednesday, the first full day after the law took effect, thousands of Hong Kong residents took to the streets to protest the law and Hong Kong's handover to Chinese rule. For the first time in 23 years, organizers were denied permission to congregate in commemoration of the 1997 handover.

It's really happening, and the world is just going to watch.
