The movies have been the worst aspect of the buyout. Everything aside from them have been adventurous and exciting, but the movies (especially RoS) have felt so corporate and uninspired.

one thing bad that Disney did was they rebooted the Expanded Universe right at the worst possible time
I spent years wishing that star wars would explore a pre KOTOR time period. like way way WAAAAAAAAAY back to the original founding of the Jedi Order. and they finally fucking did it in the comics. thye had just started a new time period in the comics about the first Jedi in history. and then it was right about that time that disney happened, and shut everything down. and then when they announced the High Republic era in the new Disney EU, it was icing on the cake of insult cause it's the opposite of what I want. High Republic is only like a few hundred years before Phantom Menace. why are they so scared to explore the ancient past? I want to see the first jedi, the first sith, and the founding of the Republic and maybe also the founding of the Sith Empire. though so far they haven't admitted there ever was a Sith Empire in the new Disney EU I don't think ... The final battle scene looked great, but it was hard to really care while basically knowing they're gonna succeed regardless. 7 was a good start. I was fine with it. Couldn't wait to see how the story continued...then I got very disappointment.
Rogue One was mostly boring and forgettable. It was just a movie full of callbacks and fanboy moments. ATSTs! ATSTs! It was made for the types of fanboy who want a gritty rated R Star Wars movie. Still haven't bothered to see Solo, though I'm still curios despite hearing about some groaner parts. The Mandalorian was pretty cool. Not spectacular, but pretty good. It has some fan service-y sort of stuff, but it didn't beat you over the head with it like RO did. It felt more a part of the world of Star Wars than just fan service.
