I love this game :)

That was a great one. There are some issues i have mainly in the gameplay part, but this was fantastic.

I will write an official review maybe next week or at least 2 weeks. This was a very fun journey. Thanks guys !

It was great in my opinion. Everything clicked well maybe except date remembering the other timelines

but just my headcanon it's the same universe as zero escape and date is a shifter.

pretty much what i liked is the plot feels complete, more like the original 999 insteas of VLR and ZTD. It is also much lower stake. Like it know its scopes and use it well.

as for the plot itself, i find nothing really wrong with it, it was interesting, well executed, filled with endearing characters. Some of the timeline shenanigans might feel forced but i don't mind.

the main issues are with somniums. It vary between ok and annoying, but it's basically the opposite of puzzle room in zero escape. I mean i kinda get what uchikoshi's going for. I think he wanted to create a contrast between zero escape logical, mechanical room to unpredictable, surreal gameplay, but that doesn't always translate into gameplay too well.

But that's it honestly. I love this game. The characters, story, their banters.

I loved it a lot as well with very few complaints. I agree on your somniums point that for the most part they were fine but a couple later in the game annoyed me. And I was on PC and maybe they patched it, but back then the Minecraft somnium had a crashing problem and it drove me up the wall trying to save scum my way through it. ;_;

Idk, I personally felt like the end of the game fizzled really hard.

Once the mind swapping thing got revealed, it was super super obvious what was going on. I think I figured out every single swap right away after that. The game just sort of withholds that information from you until really late, and everything becomes way way too obvious after that point.

Also, the main villain was really lame. His character boiled down to "Buahahaha, I'm really evil" which included a really over-the-top death.

I loved the game up until then, and I still liked it overall, but the last few hours felt really lame and predictable, and the main plot just sort of fell flat. The characters were still really good, though.

I like the villain. Not all villains need complex motivation, sometimes just simple psycho (and he has good reason to be one) works. The villain is definitely a lot more complex than "buahaha i am really evil." What is evil really? It's subjective most of the time. Human behavior, personality, are most the part is the result of chemistry. The rest is context. I don't think you can classify him as simple evil. It's just how the brain is wired and how human brain evolved. Not that i sympathize with him or anything but he's done well.

Scientifically and philosophically, the exploration of mental illness trough the villain in the game is somewhat shallow true, but i think at least his motivation is legit, and believable trough that context.

I dunno. If you like the villain on that basis, by all means, go for it. I don't want to make anyone dislike the game, and I respect your opinion.

Personally, though, I felt like the game almost explored ideas like mental illness and evil and stuff, but it stopped short of really saying anything meaningful about it, which left the villain feeling more like a Saturday morning cartoon villain to me.

I also just really disliked that the killer was someone who wasn't really brought up until very late in the game (I believe he was only hinted at very late in one route and formally introduced with Hitomi's somnium) by a concept that was similarly withheld from the player until really late in the game. I was theorizing on the killer all game long just using the suspects in the game, and it felt like the game was like "lol but there was a mind jumping body swapper in the mix the whole time, and btw, So's son was a psychopath! Who could the killer be?! :O" It wasn't a super satisfying reveal to me because it felt sort of cheap, because critical information is held back until super late. I just wasn't really huge on how the endgame played out with all of that. It felt like theorizing was pretty pointless since you don't find out about critical information that you need until very late, at which point the game becomes very obvious and the last few hours are a lot of plot dumping about stuff that's easy to piece together.
