Probably yeah. I love uchikoshi's work but it was kinda really expensive at base price. Now with summer sale it's finally affordable.

But yeah, i wish i could hug mizuki twice.

Anyway it's crazy how good the production of this game seem to be after somewhat disappointing zero time dilemma.

Voice acting is probably one of the best japanes media dub i have ever heard. Graphics looks good and the characters are fun. The quips between date and aiba are funny, etc.

Also Corina Boettger gave everything in her performance as Mizuki. I would hazard to say I put her next to Melissa Hutchison as Clementine for her performance of a child character.

Most gameplay is straight visual novel. Go to location. Poke a scene. Speak to a character and go through a dialogue tree.

The "gameplay" gameplay is when you dive into someone's dream and sort out the puzzles inside. My only real complaint about the game is that some of the things you do in the dreams seem arbitrary. Like you're experimenting to see what works and if it doesn't, you're just hitting the rewind and trying the other thing.

I realize me just describing that doesn't make the game sound very appealing, but believe me when I say that the real strength of this game is in its writing and characters.

Yeah. Puzzles in zero escape are more logical. In here you are pretty much just trying what works and what don't.

It's probably intentional to do the opposites of the logic escape room puzzles that AI puzzles aren't really puzzles.

Also i love mizuki so much. She's roasting Date with every line she said

Also #89 is the person we met in date's first dream.

what are these connections? Date, iris, 89, the okiuras, the mafia they are all connected somehow.

I wish I liked AI a bit more than I did. I was super super into it, but I felt like it fell kind of flat near the end.

It still had great characters and an intriguing premise, and I did like it overall, but I didn't end up loving it just due to some of the later plot stuff.

crackpot theory:

date and 89 is "a same" person. it is said too much time in somnium caused the personalities to assimilate. date is "F" while body of the person we play was the cyclops killer. they being synched caused both personality being melded and shuffled, for the "date" we play undergoing memory loss while 89 has diassociative disorders. the story doesn't add up. if 89 is the cyclops killer, then why his story doesn't match with his police report persona (like being born without oxytocin, and he was arrested after his 4th murder). this also explain why the person we play as have memory of sagan residence and possibly iris when she was little. the case become classified due to this, because they are basically have a police officer who's an assassin that have switched bodies with a pyscho-killer that they still employs for whatever reason.
still have no clue who the new killer is.
