The reason I'm bringing this up because for too long I've been pretty silent of what 261 has been doing, and to the rest of GameFAQs in some extent. I'm going to point out the problems people have been having with that board as follows:

1) Extreme Ideology breeding ground
2) Lack of Respect & Decency
3) Slander & Accusations (I know some of you here have been called some things that were not true that comes from 261 mob mentality).
4) Toxic to the whole of GameFAQs; its literal cancer to this site.
5) Debates don't last long and go straight into a flaming war.
6) Their extreme behavior can affect other boards over time.
7) Potential Moderator Corruption due to lack of Oversight mainly with 261, but without evidence I cannot say if this is honestly true right now; only SBAllen knows.

I got off talking with a user here who has been here since 2000, and he was appalled what has happened around here lately. Honestly; I have noticed too the same problem over the years as well besides just 261, but however I want to focus mainly on 261 because of how much problems it creates for everyone else.

This is a video game site with a social aspect, but at the same time we all come here to be stress-free as well, and I believe 261's toxic environment has created too much problems that it needs to either be completely destroyed or be contained like LUE was contained years ago.

Their shit has to stop.

I can understand that, but at the same time 261 gets away with too much.

The thing to consider is 261 operates on Mob Mentality, and destroying that board completely fragments their mob.

Over time if they were to cause trouble on other boards they wouldn't last very long because other boards wouldn't tolerate their shit since other boards don't operate like 261 does.

They need to just carpet ban the belligerents that goad people into calling them an asshole so they can get you suspended. My mod history is literally just repetitive sequences of being gaslit by people so hard I dont have a choice but to tell them to go fuck themselves and then I get modded.

Its one thing if a convo just gets heated but not when its the same people pulling this shit with every user they come into contact with.

I mean hell how long was it before Bond actually got banned? And for all I know hes still there.

Its more to do with the image of the site itself than simply blocking them over and over again, I think it would be bad optics if GameFAQs was known for that terrible board.

261 to me had its chance to be in good faith time and time again, but they all have not been acting in good faith at all.

The difference with CE is that we're not concentrated shit, and we don't spread our shit everywhere.

Hell we're all like this one dysfunctional, but lovable family on CE sometimes too.

Glad to see others recognize that board for what it is... pure toxicity and hate filled extremists. They are either circle jerking or trying to shame anyone who disagrees with them.

I don't know how anyone could ever take the 261 seriously. It's truly an abomination but if you get rid of it then they would just have to make all political conversation a modable offense... we certainly don't want that crap leaking onto other boards.

I'm not too familiar with this Politics board, but I think censorship is bad. GameFAQs, IMO, is one of the last bastion, so to say, forum sites that are somewhat heavily populated. Every viewpoint and post can be viewed. Reddit hides things and creates a system where mob mentality rules what you see. Reddit is awful for the most part, if you want to have balanced discussion.

Let people speak their minds. Modding should really only ever be done if a post is spamming or truly "disruptive" or deliberately spoiling things. Let freedom of speech reign free (of course with the obvious exception of literally promoting violence, threats and stuff)

I agree with this, in a sense. Thing is, I probably hold a broader scale of what constitutes spamming than you do. For example, antivax is based on nothing but lies. Proven time and again, but there are people who keep repeating it. That's spam by my count.

Roadster makes a valid point. We need to be more open minded and LET THEM IN. Anyone should have the right to post on CE. We should also stop labeling specific boards by names because thats extremely problematic

I like the segregation of all the various boards.

It gives a particular PURPOSE & TOPICALITY to what we should be talking about.

Console Boards talk about ___ Console

___ Game talks about ___ Games.

There's a board for just about every subject that you give a damn about.
