Cpl. Steve Aiello, a Bay Area Police Union Chief has posted on FB that it was 100% JUSTIFIED for a cop to SLAP a Protester who FLIPS them the BIRD!!

He posted under a comment of a meme that showed a protester sticking her middle finger up at an officer and the words "Maybe it's the people, not the cops that need "better training"

And Aiello wrote "I firmly believe an open hand slap in the face is 100% justified in this incident. When a police officer is standing there doing nothing and a person is antagonizing them, why is that OK?".

Both the meme itself and his comment were deleted and said that his remarks were "taken out of context" and says he supports "peaceful protests"

he said "This comment was taken out of context. The activists are simply creating their own narrative. In fact, not peaceful and were antagonist in nature. That's how i interpreted the original post"

But outraged residents already formed and demanded he resign and have arranged a protest over his remarks.

I didn't know people actually got formal training or had the authority police do.

It's almost like that officer doesn't want all the responsibility that comes with being an officer.

Like holy shit, they basically said violence is the answer to non violent actions.

Stuff like this, considering the authority police have, is genuinely gross imo.

So um, does that work for non-cops too in his mind. If someone flips you off on the freeway in stop and go traffic it's ok to get out of your car and slap em in response?

Cool, thus is why these protests are happening now. Cops don't know how to actually enforce laws.

None physical contact unless using a weapon doesn't justify physical contact however I'm not against it leading to that.
