what are so many Grand Line pirates doing at Level 1? Isn't it super out of the way to go BACK to East Blue? It just doesn't make sense

East Blue is the quiet, calm, ocean you go to when you just want to get away from it all.

Or in Hawkeye's case, chase down the dudes who ruined your nap.

I liked Daddy the Father

Sanji's lady friend felt super fillery since they didn't develop the two much despite knowing each other since they were kids (Can't mess with the manga canon!)

it is filler. with Apis, right? honestly, one piece is generally awesome (up until I watched, anyways). I think that's legitimately the only bad filler arc.

I don't even think Warship Island is a bad filler arc, it just mostly sticks out because it's a 'long' one whereas most filler arcs are only like 3-4 eps.

Daddy the Father iirc is technically canon I think (Oda wrote it somewhere), but I think the Sanji ep is 100 % filler.

Also Yubashiri and Sandai Kitetsu!

Oh yeah apis stuff is filler it was weird to kinda just have that inserted at that point of the story, even as they're going up reverse mountain

so I don't know if they do this in the japanese version, but when Zoro talks while fighting in 3 sword style, they give him a lisp since hes talking with a sword in his mouth

Its super annoying

I recall hearing somewhere the reason he talks so clearly is "because hes talking through his heart"

so adding a lisp makes things too literal

Even if you're a total badass you can still be swallowed up by it's bullshit

I used the RPG Level up comparison with East Blue but this stuff makes it so that doesn't apply

Yeah, I feel like Don Krieg certainly was strong enough to survive in the grand line, at least the early part of it, he just wasn't prepared for navigating there and had the horrible luck of running into Hawkeye.
