Croc's fight with Luffy demonstrates why hes one of the Warlords

but yea...good GOD, a Pirate with a WATER weakness? I mean, I know ALL Fruit users have that, but HIM even more so!

so One Piece is kinda like FFT, in the way that its bright, cartoonyish, and possibly even looks like its for young kids with its designs, but the characters get fucking Gored

Luffy was completely red, and not because of his shirt, after his fight with Croc

and Usopp got bloodied in his fight too, he was fucking bleeding out of his eyes

So the rebellion leader is voiced by the same guy that voices Natsu from Fairy Tail and I can't take him seriously

in a bold move the Power of Friendship DIDN"T WOrk and vivi couldn't stop the battle from happening. Lots of people died.

Now the fights

Usopp and Chopper was actually really fun, I enjoyed watching it. Usopp stepped up to the plate lots of times in the same fight. Hes very capable of turning the tides.

Nami's....was....dumb. Doublefinger JUST KEPT GIVING HER CHANCES and would NOT kill her. SHE EVEN GAVE NAMI HER WEAPON BACK. And the whole fight was just Nami not fighting until she landed the killing blow. NOW, I will say, giving Nami this kind of weapon IS very intriguing. They've shown shes very intuned with weather and climates. Its genuis, but...I also ...can't really buy that Usopp could build such a thing. Don't they imply Usopp is not the best handy man? doesn't this become an actual plot point whent hey have to give up the Merry?
If in the previous arc the towns men gave them some crazy technology and Usopp made use of it, MAYBE I can understand. but its taking me out of it that this could happen. I'm very mixed with this fight

Zoro's was relatively boring. He should've died like 5 times but he doesn't. Theres really no explanation other than plot armor. and I hate using that term. I dunno, its ..just not fun when its so blatantly lazy. I'm not saying I want to wtach Zoro die either but hows he just gonna keep standing after getting slashed and losing all of that blood. This fight WAS a decent character study though, you get to see what goes in his mind during a fight. Objects give off certain kinds of energies and hes actually striking against those. And he leveled up and could slash steel.

Sanji's fight is probably the best one. So much breakdance fighting! The only immediately flaw I can think of is that they keep taking breaks from it and keep cutting away from it. It also ends rather abrupting and in a generic fashion. I feel like Bon Clay's attack was more damaging with the foot blade thing, and Sanji's was just a regular jump kick.

SO CONTROVERSY. They edited this fight. Theres a part where they both strike each other, they fall, and they barf blood. I'm not a gore hound or anything, but they edited the blood in this fight. Its now spit. they've had lots of character bleed out and spew blood like crazy. They even showed Arlong have Zoro suspended in the air while his wound reopened and he was just hemorrhaging. Why did they do this here? And because this was on stream, I figured this wouldn't happen (I knew about this edit previously, its even in the Japanese version). but nope, edited. And yea, its a mandela effect thing, I distinctly remember it being red. It was probably the original broadcasting and that was it

Luffy's other fight was meh. They cut away from it too much

Usopp is a good inventor, which is why he made the weapons. He also makes his own pellets and such.

That's basically my thoughts on Zoro any time he fights. He's probably my 3rd least favorite on the crew. He's just kind of boring.

Usopp is a mediocre carpenter/shipwright but he is actually a pretty clever tinkerer.

And yeah you will just have to accept the fact that Zoro and Usopp (but especially Zoro) can take inhuman amounts of punishment. People in One Piece can just be way more durable than irl anyway but a few people are especially notable.

I agree that Nami's fight is awful though. She just gets super lucky.

More and more I find that the quality of the Straw Hats' fights is inversely proportional to how much I enjoy them as a character. Zoro's fights are almost always very straightforward and boring, but he's consistently one of the best actual characters. Ditto Robin. Meanwhile, Sanji and Usopp annoy me more often than not, but their fights are almost always great.

Luffy is the one real exception to the rule, but that's kind of a given considering he's the main character.

I enjoy that Zoro can pretty much take down anything. Leave the struggles and leveling up to Luffy.

I feel like Franky is also something of an exception to that though I do generally agree with Iceman on that point.

I feel like Sanji and Usopp mostly get hard done by their anime selves as is the case for Brook but I think they're great characters. Zoro's fights can be overrated but he's a pretty flawless character, I really can't see how it's possible to dislike him.

I think by faster pacing we mean arcs that don't have a million characters in the first place, which I suspect will be the case after wano since we probably won't be fighting for entire kingdoms and countries anymore.

I suppose the last war arc will still be a character-fest, but that'll be more like marineford and all action.

I don't really understand why people seem so convinced we'll go to Elbaf. I guess it's been talked about a lot and the SH are still following the Log Pose(?) but I don't see a 'reason' to go there (while I would much prefer the adventure style rather than the dedicated "let's go there" of post-Punk Hazard).

I highly doubt this will be a thing as well. I can see there being a page dedicated to it, but I can't really see there being a genuine scene where Brook reunites with Laboon. I think you'll never be able to beat people's imagination when it comes to things like that.
