Do you think the current dating environment/culture is good or bad?

Between 21st century attitudes, ideals and technology like social media, dating apps, smart tech, what is your opinion?

I think it's neutral? Like I can imagine some guy or girl who doesn't really go out benefiting from apps but at the same time I seen a lot of people who just want hookups.

somewhere between good and neutral. My only umbrage with current dating culture is the ease of ignore/block/ghost another person. "hey I don't think we click enough" is way too difficult for far too many to communicate.

Terrible for both. People are shallow, addicted to social media, casual hookups might be easy for some, but that doesn't lead to anything meaningful.

There's a reason why the rates of people getting married or having children are going way down-- and according to a recent story, young men are getting laid way less than before, so it's not as if the hookup culture is working very well either.

Bad for both.

Men are increasingly having to compete with guys across the state which promotes more promiscuity than monogamy. In such a climate, only a small percentage of guys will have success with women. The MeToo stuff is making in person interactions more difficult and strained, and the push for gender equality as opposed to gender roles leaves men without much leverage in a relationship. This causes guys to accept anything and everything since they also get shamed for not being successful with women, which only causes a self-fulfilling prophecy. As if guys are dropping standards, women can pick from anyone.

Women, thus, are not being approached as frequently by anyone of quality due to society fears. Online, they have too many choices which can actually be harmful as again, quality matches are drowned out by the fakes or vulgar. Woman are encouraged to become independent and not need a man, which coupled with social media frequently bloating their value on the dating market, can cause them to not want to settle, even if the guy realistically can meet her desires. Women dont get a fair perspective, so mistakenly try to date above what they can offer.

Bad for both

Women get fake validation, then pumped and dumped by chad repeatedly

Men get rejected 7000x a day

Idk what the answer is,

First option. It's catastrophic for men.

It's bad for both for sure. Online dating becoming so prominent and moving towards "shallow" sort of connections doesn't really help anyone. Part of what I always liked about online dating in the past was that people put forth some effort into their bios and you could get a decent sense of if you might get along before sending them a message. Now it's more about putting up a few good pics and hoping for bites. Granted, I do think the fact that most sites are finally giving women some filtering options for messaging is a major plus.
