I'm enjoying the combat far more than I thought I'd be.

Storywise I'm into it. It's neat.

I plan to get this soon.
Already played the 3DS version and loved it.

The combat's a bit slow to get started, but once you get the Art palette filled up enough to nearly always have something to do it's great, especially when affinities get high enough for longer chain attacks to happen reliably and you can really start stringing together good combos.

It's great! One of my favorite games of all time on the Wii already, and the QoL changes were really nice.

Be sure to try out more than just Shulk as leader. They all play differently. The later party members especially aren't as straight forward and looking at their tutorials is a good idea. Damage Over Time can really add up...

I'm having fun. But haven't gotten too far. Playing a bunch of different games at the same time. Haha.

I love XCX, but with the amount of changes and QoL features I'd want in a port, I rather they just make a sequel and add them in.

Yeah, it needs a sequel most of all, b/c the ending doesn't answer anything.
also, XCX looked fine. Only graphical issue was the text was too damn small on the menus and such.
The major fixes it needs outside of simply being ported are individual volume sliders for music/voice/etc... that literally every other Xenoblade game have (how cruel, the one XC game w/ music tracks so obnoxious and inescapable that I'd want the feature, is the only one w/o them), ditching the Lin/Tatsu scenes, and maybe an epilogue that doesn't replace a sequel but at least ends the game better than what's there now.
(BTW, if XCX were ported, would you need to pay for the Switch's online service to do the squad missions and stuff? That'd freaking suck.... It's not even that I enjoyed doing them so much as they're practically required to get various stuff)

If I could only change one thing about XCX, it'd be to make the flying song and background tracks remember their positions when you land so you don't have to hear the first two seconds of each song every time you jump in a skell. That, or remove the flying song entirely, which would solve the problem without sacrificing anything of particular value, but it's really the constant stop/start that bothered me. I was pretty ambivalent about the song itself (though I quite liked the zone themes and would prefer to hear those).

I'd put in like a 5 second delay before it kicks in. If you land before then, it doesn't start up.

A delay would help, but there were still plenty of flights longer than 5 seconds (or whatever value is chosen) that were still short enough to make the musical transition too frequent and jarring. Maybe base it on altitude so it only kicks in on longer flights.

To be fair, this is the first proper release Xenoblade has had in North America. The original release came very late in the Wii's lifespan (~7 months before the WiiU came out), well after most people (consumers and publishers alike) had given up on it having any more worthwhile games, and being a Gamestop-exclusive release meant supplies were very limited and anyone who didn't hop on the bandwagon almost immediately had no recourse but to buy a used copy for twice what games normally cost (Gamestop later did what seemed like a second print run that they called "used copies" to allow them to sell them for $90, which was better than $120+, but still a lot). It was ported to the 3DS, but it was one of a tiny handful of New 3DS exclusives, so only people who bought a New 3DS could experience it that way. While I'm sure both of them had a great time with it, that was still a very limited release. And then it got silently added to the WiiU's virtual console long after everyone stopped paying attention to the WiiU, so barely anyone even knew about that.

This release, however, comes in the Switch's prime, on a system that's been very successful even among the core gamer audience that Xenoblade appeals to, with a reasonable amount of promotion, and with no appreciable supply constraints (even without considering the digital option). For a lot of people, this genuinely is their first real chance to play the game, which is a real shame because it's a masterpiece that has been hobbled by NoA's refusal to let it be successful.

Indeed. If NoA hadn't fought like it's life depended upon preventing a North American release for nearly two years, the game probably would've done much better on the Wii.
Even as hobbled as its eventual very limited release was, it was so popular in the U.S. that I think it outsold Japan.
I will never forgive or forget what NoA did.
