I did like the first terminator but they basically out run him on foot after they stop him with a stolen shotgun

He is like inexorable and prime Arnold is the perfect person for that role but I don't think it's fair to say they never even slow him down. The movie does a better job of setting that kind of tone so I can see remembering it that way

Remember how bad Terminator Genisys was? Easily the worst in the series.

If you are talking the scene in nightclub where the T-800 and Reese first square off Kyle unloads 5 rounds of 12 guage buckshot in about 5 seconds at extremely close range. I mean yeah it's enough to unbalance the T-800 and knock it over. The t-800 then gets up 2 seconds later and starts blasting with his Uzi. I mean I guess if you want to consider that be slowed down you can. The second time Kyle hits him with 4 rounds, again at close enough range to knock him out the front window. They then run out the back and escape in a car after another short altercation that they survive by using said car to get away.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3hGMgd2X14

I pulled that scene up on youtube real quick so I could figure out how times Reese fires, and I noticed something that always kills me in movies. Both the Terminator and Reese have to chamber a round. So you are either an unstoppable robot made to kill people or a badass future soldier guy. Either way you know you are going to be discharging your weapon in a combat scenario in the near future, but you don't keep a round chambered? Hollywood loves to show people working slides or racking a pump action for gravitas. Occasionally they'll show the same character racking a pump multiple times without them ever discharging a round. Like, guys, you are now just ejecting unused shells from your weapon.

Your complaint was that in t2 they injure him enough to slow him down enough to get away. That's literally what you just described happening in this scene. And he's put on his ass by one shot during this scene, too

I guess it is a few shots lol

Ill never forget the feeling the first time i saw t2. I was 10 or 11 and my buddy had it on vhs. I had never watched an action movie because i thought they were "scary".
When it was over it had blew my mind. I started watching any action movies i could get my hands on.
Honorable mentions are the lethal weapon series, die hards 1-3, commando, predator

I think it might have been one of the first few movies I watched with swearing in it. The movie was epic. I remember more from it than the first.

To me it's mainly a difference in how the movie handles the two threats. That shotgun scene doesn't give you the impression the terminator could stand up to an entire army or even the whole lapd but that's not what the movie asks of him. Like you could probably stop Jason with a tank but that's beside the point

Yes I'll kinda agree with this and use proof from this topic:

I mean, to me this kinda describes why some like T2 so much. it was a movie they saw in their formative years, it left an impression on them and that's why they love it so much. Nothing wrong with that, you grow up with a certain movie of course you're going to love it. 90s kids love this movie, they grew up with it and have fond memories of it.

Also the highway scene where he walks out after the truck is on fire is pure fear. It's like okay you can slow him down, but can you finish the job? The way the movie ends is extremely well done to let the audience know if he can be stopped. Also the visuals of course took this movie to the next level. It's one of the few movies where the sequel is just better.

I first saw T1 when I was too young to understand it. All I recalled was being so of the skeletal robot that I had nightmares of it. Of course, looking at it now, the stop-motion animation is incredibly janky, but 6 year-old me was not mentally capable of understanding that, let alone that the movie was fiction.

To contrast, the worst of T2 was the atomic blast scene, which more-mature-but-still-kid-me thought was horribly gruesome, but not nightmare-inducing.

Anyhow, more recent viewings of both have put T1 as my fave.

Sigs are rather pointless, except if it's to showcase animation and images.

You are right there. The Police station massacre scene does a pretty job though of demonstrating to the viewer just how much of a juggernaut the T-800 is. An entire station station full of cops unload on him with handguns and later ARs or M-16s (I'm not sure which the cops had in the 80s).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYc2jQaM8gM

I'd like to say kudos to whoever did the restore on these videos btw. They look really good.
Upon further reflection, shotguns do seem to be the most effective in the Terminator universe against Terminators. All those cops with their handguns and assault rifles don't do shit in the station. Kyle is able to knock him down with the 12 guage with 5 shots the first time and 4 shots the second time in the Tech-Noir scene. In T-2 Arnie uses 1887 lever action 12 gauge and has some success in slowing down the T-1000. At the end of the film Sarah has another shotgun, Remington 870 12 gauge, that she damn near ends the T-1000 with in the steel mill.

Sorry, sorry! I forget sometimes that Dark Fate was released last year (or maybe I have suppressed that memory). You're right, let me correct myself.

Dark Fate is the worst followed by Salvation. Thanks for catching my mistake!

I don't know how people can say in T2 he seems stoppable or something. They only slowed him down at times, but the highway fire scene alone watching as a kid is goosebumps. Same thing with the elevator scene at the hospital. It had the same vibe as the first horror/action plus way better graphics.
