I don't mind the novels and comics continuing the story either. I don't know what's canon anymore though.

Not to mention T2 spawned one of the greatest light gun games ever, T2: The arcade game. As many times as I've played it, i have yet to beat it LOL.

However! Both are shining gems of what action/horror should be along with alien/aliens

Fun fact, back in 91 when Terminator 2 came out we knew that Arnold was going to be a good guy. But we didn't know who was going to be the bad guy or what his powers were going to be. That first scene in the hallway had the theater going absolutely berserk.

Amazing. I watched it on VHS as a kid so I missed out on that experience.

I watched T2 first as a kid and loved it. Later on I watched the first one it wasn't as good. Good movie, but just not as good as the second.

"He's just an unstoppable relentless juggernaut. Nothing ever phases him or even slows him down. At no point till the end is anyone even able to make a dent in it. In T-2 they are able to damage the T-1000 enough, multiple times, to be able to escape him. That alone to me makes the first film a better horror movie."

That's what made T2 good. Why watch the film if he captures everyone in the first scene? It was robot vs robot. He out smarted the other to win cause strength wise he had no chance.

Raw-Finish or High-Polish, which is better? I guess that largely depends on personal preference.

Which Super Mario game is better, Super Mario Bros or Super Mario World?
Which Discworld novel is better, The Colour of Magic or Sourcery?
Which Pearl Jam album is better, Ten or Vs.?
Again, personal preference.

Edit: I appreciate T1 and T2 for different reasons, but I have experienced T2 more times, and in more different formats, than any other Terminator series film.

Also everyone bashing Edward Furlongs JC need to watch Nick Stahl and Christian Bale's Connors and realize he was the best one we got.

Also SMW is better than SMB since it offers more to the gamer. Picking between SMB3 and SMW is a tough call.

I honestly prefer the first movie. Not just because of the story (it is perfectly selfcontained), but especially the atmosphere is unrivaled. No other movie has been able to capture that feel of dread that the first one gave, Kyle Reese was pants-shittingly terrified and the entire movie the T-800 felt like an unstoppable machine. The first movie is kind of a horror/slasher movie but it doesn't actually feel like one. Kyle obviously has PTSD and it shows. No once does he believe they stand a chance of stopping the Terminator.

T2 is without a doubt on of the best action movies ever, but that's the thing. Once you let 2 "super robots" fight eachother, the entire tone of the movie changes. And that is not a bad thing per se, I just enjoy the first one better.

The rest of the movies just shit the bed after that. But honestly, Salvation was a better movie than people gave it credit for, it was the ONLY movie that actually changed things up, by actually happening in the future. It's not the best movie, not by a long shot, but atleast it gave me something I always wanted: the future war that is always referenced in the other Terminator movies.

Ill never forget the feeling the first time i saw t2. I was 10 or 11 and my buddy had it on vhs. I had never watched an action movie because i thought they were "scary".
When it was over it had blew my mind. I started watching any action movies i could get my hands on.
Honorable mentions are the lethal weapon series, die hards 1-3, commando, predator
