And the improvement from the last time he did this is remarkable. The game looks amazing and I cannot wait to play it. It's a proper RPG. I'm also glad they ditched the past tense dialogue and made it more normal, there's also a ton of branching dialogue options, stat options, class and race options I've noticed so far.

The embed is scuffed but the link works. Worth a watch if you like proper RPG's.

I was already sold but I like what I see. Really like the change to dialogue and initiative. They weren't deal breakers but I'm glad they're listening to feedback.

Only watched a little of it so far, but already looks much better than what we had seen previously.

I still think they should have just made this it's own thing. it didn't need the Baldur's Gate name. it really has next to nothing to do with those old games. the world Baldur's Gate is set in, is not just from those games. it's a massive world called the Forgotten Realms, and used to be the most famous and widely used Dungeons and Dragons world setting. it's not like they have to call it BG just cause its in the same world. and even if it is set in the same region, I think it would have been better if they called it Sword Coast or something. that's the wider region that the city of Baldur's Gate is in. the name is just being abused for that sweet sweet brand recognition.

Oh definitely are just using the name for recognition value and playing on people liking the old games, given the Bhaalspawn saga came to an end, and Bhaal returned anyway in 5e.

But eh, annoying as it is, the game does look good now.

I mean it's unlikely, doesn't it take place hundreds of years later? any tie in will be very loose I think. and probably just something tossed in to justify the name of the game.

I'm almost certain there will be callbacks and references but the story of 1 and 2 was wrapped up pretty nicely so there probably won't be any real connections.

Disappointing for me as a huge fan of BG - the art direction totally kills it but on it's own it seems fine.

The BG series is just wayy darker, more 'realistic' - this game just seems too much like a cartoon in comparison

Did you watch the stream I linked? It looks more and more like you said each time they show it. He's currently in The Underdark and it's properly "dark" and gritty looking.

The music was.. just barely 'right' and yeah.. the Underdark does look really gritty. I watched this with a more open mind because I am a big fan-nerd of BG and CRPG's in general.

I guess I'm used to CRPG's looking dated for lack of a better word, but man I just wish it had more 'gore'. It's crazy how tiny sprites and the type of sounds they used.. the interactions in the world you had just could immerse you that way

Maybe it's simply nostalgia - I dunno

It was a vast improvement over the last stream he did so I have faith they'll continue to tweak the art style to be more like what everyone remembers. It looked good last time but still mostly like Divinity but this one looks much more like it's own thing.
