Some of our founding fathers were slave owners and their ideas and hard work are what formed the foundation of this very country. If you don't like them, then you can leave the country because without them there is no country.

When the ones destroying it are the descendants of the ones who built it as slaves, I can see where they're coming from.

Well theyre gone, and the country is still here, so that last sentence is false

face it, the founding fathers were by and large bad people who founded a society that exclusively catered to people like themselves. is it better now than it was then? yes. but its really no different than any other group making their own country for what they consider to be people.

The founders' first idea for how to run the country lasted less than a decade before it had to be replaced. Their second attempt got about 70 years before the country split in half.

Even Jefferson said the Declaration needed to be completely revised and re-written every few years because there is always cultural progress, but that's never really happened.

Yeah, there's basically a sort of cultishness to how the Founders are often presented. The truth is they were 18th-century aristocrats who had the priorities of 18th-century aristocrats. Many of them were praise-worthy in many ways(like, Washington 100% could have gone full Cromwell/Napoleon if he had wanted to, but didn't and went out of his way to dispel any ideas his junior officers had that he would), but they were terrible in many others. Some aspects of the government they designed worked out pretty well, others did not. It increasingly struggles to govern in the 21st-century. Some would even have the good sense to be aghast that we were still running things by their lines.

Lol at some people's logic. It's literally no more intelligent or complex than "no u" and they fight to the death with that logic...its pretty sad.

That's really not a us centric thing, considering the extent that royalty is preserved in other countries .

Anyway, I have no issue with statues of the founders. Statues of the founders is very different than statues of confederate generals

Why is George Washington and Thomas Jefferson my hero? Andrew Jackson?

Why? Because they founded a country on the backs of slavery and rebelled against a country that ended up abolishing slavery way before them? England stopped being an oppressive monarchy in the early 18th century btw

I don't get why we celebrate them. "They founded our country!". Yeah, and our country has been a human rights disaster for most of its existence, and up until the mid 20th century did we actually start legally treating everyone as equal. But rampant racism in politics and law enforcement still exists to this very day.

Oh, and we pop in from time to time to intervene in your country's regime changes. What exactly makes us the good guys again? Freedom of speech? It's literally the same here as it is in any 1st world country. I'm not seeing the benefit.
