Meh. I'm a janitor in a hospital and ain't getting fuck all extra. I pay my taxes and want said taxes to go towards giving people an affordable income if they're incapable of working (like, say, a pandemic shuts everything down), among other things.

Anyone who has a problen with those less fortunate using the social structures available to them in times of need are just jealous dickheads.

Yup. Most ppl are getting between 350-500 PLUS the 600 extra. Per week until July 31st. It first started in mid April I think.

For the record, the $600/week unemployment stimulus IS the CARES Act bonus. There arent two separate $600/wk bonuses.

I know, i've already said I was getting $737 a week in this topic. The post I quoted claimed there were 2 $600 a week payments, but I couldn't find anything about that.

People not working should be getting over one fucking K a week and you know it. There are people out there making less while working. Its complete bullshit and those people working have every right to be pissed off

Then they cant continue to claim unemployment. It expires July 31st and from what Ive been reading/gathering itll either be extended, itll expire on the 31st or the extra $600 will be reduced.

I used to work for UPS and know how physical demanding the job is, so that sucks, but Im really not sure what else to tell you. A lot of people lost their jobs due to no fault on their own. Thats what unemployment is for, without the extra $600 a lot of workers that were already making $600+ at work would be making less than half of that.

In February, the average payment was $215 in Mississippi and $550 in Massachusetts. Nationwide, the average payment is roughly $385 per week. The extra $600 from the federal government will be added to that total each week until July 31. Though the extra benefits are only now making their way to the unemployed, they will be retroactive to March 29. That means the first check some people receive, provided they can show theyve been unemployed since late March, could be for several thousand dollars.

If you get offered a job and decline, you can't claim unemployment anymore.

Also, you have to keep looking for work while claiming unemployment.

Normally that's true, but you don't have to right now. When I do my weekly certification, there's a point where I'm supposed to show three attempts to find work, but it says waived so I don't actually have to fill those out.

I want to contribute to society, but I want to do it my way and become self-actualized and grow and all that good stuff. If Im working what I see as a temporary, menial job as a medium to get to point B, then I want to be respected as someone who knows theyre better than a burger flipper or someone who does *insert lame ass job here*.

I want to contribute to the production of goods and services, not the continuance of a culture that wants to say that just because someone created a business, they deserve to be able to shut small businesses down via competition, and monopolize employment opportunities, thereby resulting in paying employees as little as possible.

In other words, I agree that we work too much and arent paid enough. And I value my life. I want to be able to chase dreams and work on myself. I dont wanna be a serf. I want to be paid a living wage...enough to make rent and save for emergencies, and to just save, etc. Why should anyone want any less?

I've been getting $1,104 a week since April as a NYer.

Anyone unemployed in a state with a state benefit over $400 is getting that hth
