Cop clearly didn't stop to get the protester to walk into him. Protester clearly walked behind the cop from a side position in which the cop couldn't see he crossed behind him. Protester clearly accidentally bumped the police officer. Police clearly began to arrest the man thinking he hit the officer. Protester clearly resisted the arrest.

Analysis.

It was an accident.
He wouldn't have been forcefully detained at the end if he hadn't resisted.
If he hadn't resisted, he would have likely been let go as they sorted it out and realized the accident.
Resisting is a crime.
However, he will likely be let off when reviewing it became more obvious it was just an accident.
An instant of resisting before the protester processes what is happening is not a crime.

It wasn't an instant. Almost the entire time the guy is screaming he isn't resisting, he is clearly resisting. From what I can see in the video, from 11 seconds to 17 seconds he is clearly resisting. I can't tell slightly before or after that. Still 6 seconds worth of resisting isn't an instant.

Y'all are expressing an interesting interpretation of these events.

I mean...the dude in the crowd yelling "he's not resisting!" as the dude is literally trying to pull himself away and run? That's a pretty good example of having no earthly idea what you're talking about, but saying it loudly enough that it sounds true.

With your logic, if you are about to get raped and you resist, then you're resisting rape. Just replace rape with arrest...same shit. These dumb ass cops just can't go from 1 to 100 and they are the ones instigating shit too.

This is messed up. Hopefully the video can be shown in court to free this man of any false charges and hopefully sue the hell out of em

it's been discovered in studies that people tend to unconsciously jerk back when being grabbed by cops and the cops interpret that as resisting. also when they have you on the ground they love to pin and twist and put on pressure on different parts of your body and you naturally try to shift around to get relief from the pain. and the cops also call that resisting.

cops will call anything other than literally not moving at all as resistance
