lol, I'm not sure how you can call Red Dead Redemption 2 a snoozefest, and use Persona 5 as an example of a good game.

it had poor pacing, control was often taken from you, and gameplay consisted of making decisions on a menu.

and don't get me started on Death Stranding, where most of the game is balancing packages on your body and trying not to trip.

as for the other games, with the exception of Bloodborne, I still disagree, but they at least had enjoyable gameplay.

Mind you this is Skill up. Hes so left youd think he lived in Seattle and was in the autonomous zone with the rest of em. He calls em as he sees em tho.

what does him being left have to do with anything?

and other reviews have said that the gameplay is a step up from the original's, and that the story is on par.

but the only way we can know for sure about how it all fits together for us is to play the game for ourselves

uh, yeah, thats what a fucking RPG is, and its a damn good one

RPGs have evolved since the 90s.

I know it's unfair to compare one game to the other, but I'll use Divinity: Original Sin 2 as an example - you don't have to remain in one place during combat, you don't have to engage all of your dudes in combat, conversations can have more variances due to stats, etc.

Persona 5 feels like its gameplay rarely changes.

and I disagree that it's good, and it definitely does feel like it wastes your time, especially when you can only do an activity or two a day to try to increase your stats.

I waited for TLoU 1 to hit $9.99, got it, and still haven't played it. Maybe I'll get to TLoU 2 by 2025?

Idk how people enjoy these "cinematic" walking sim games. Couldn't possibly be more boring. If this is the apex of western games... no wonder I haven't enjoyed any of them lately.

Whatever man, I dont give a shit what Divinity is. Whether or not Persona wastes your time, it doesnt change that RDR2 is a game built solely on wasting as much of the players time as possible. Looting in RDR2 is so obnoxious as to dissuade the player from even wanting to. Its a complete misfire and Rockstar has totally lost the thread of what made their games actually fun long ago.

I mean, if that's how you want to interpret it.

but just because you see it as "wasting the player's time", being "obnoxious", etc. doesn't mean that's how others have to see it.

just like I feel like Persona 5 is poorly paced, for example, and you don't.

Just heard. So glad I preodered a copy.

ill probably get the game b/c i liked the first TLOU and naughty dog usually makes good games, but i have a hard time getting excited for this one.

i guess i feel like TLOU was the type of game that did not demand a sequel, plus the really bleak tone of TLOU that reviews are talking about seem like kind of a turn-off to me, it doesnt seem like this game has the heart the first TLOU has. but i guess i will have to play it to see for myself

The big takeaway from Skill Ups review from me is the whole "I'm not allowed to review the part that will actually turn people away", which is a big yikes from me dawg!

And after watching his review, I have 0 interest in picking it up. I'm just gonna wait till it's free on PS+ and add it to the list of games I'll never play.

Well it's a win either way when someone sets up an argument they can't lose. Either it flops and they were right or it succeeds and they were still right because SJWs are just paying off everyone for clout. The Kotaku review stuck with me. The game hitting you over the head with misery is something I was worried about.

I also have to say that I'm warming up to the Polygon review. The stuff about the world's reaction to the virus is still out of place but the rest of it is an understandable reaction of someone who just wasn't impressed by the brutality.
