Biden is more popular with minority voters. Maybe not young minority voters (no idea on that one), but DSA candidates tend to do a lot better with WASP yuppies in gentrified neighborhoods than historically black communities, for instance. This isn't to say that their message is wrong, but Democrats have been pandering to identity politics for a long time. Socialists are more inclined to group identity discrimination with class discrimination and tackle it from the latter viewpoint, which is a very easy argument to make when you belong to a demographic that doesn't directly suffer dangerous consequences from elections.

A better question is why white voters are more inclined to latch onto a political ideology that leaves race, gender, and sexual identity out of their platform.

Well it's likely an education gap if true. Focusing heavily on political talking points that get people's panties in a twist helps nobody except a politician and does nothing except deflect to a side issue, whereas focusing on real events and real solutions has a major impact. This is why social democracy is so popular today, it incorporates most of these needed changes. Is it perfect? No.

I doubt its an education gap. Straight from the horses mouth, I read DSA members complaining that their political movement has been gentrified. It was actually from reading comments about Chapo Trap Houses brand of political commentary. Theyre ardent Bernie supporters and vowed to not vote for Biden in the general. Being white and wealthy, thats an easy choice for them to make. And thats now the huge bulk of DSA support, privileged white cynics, where people were saying that groups had been black and LGBT dominated beforehand.
