So long as you have a jack and tire iron...

Step 1: Go to YouTube.

I technically know how to change a tire, you just couldn't pay me to actually do it.

But yes, the whole wheel is a lot easier.

My dad made sure me and my (younger) brother knew how to change a tire before he showed us how to drive. Made me do an oil change too.

IRL I have had to do it twice. It's not pleasant but it's not hard. Use your bodyweight as leverage, etc. It can get messy though.

I have happily had AAA for years however, and used their tire service at least 3 times (flat, nail, and ?) since then. I'd rather pay for AAA.

Yep. Learned how on my first night of throwing papers (new years Eve night) in a bad neighborhood with people screaming and shooting guns around me. Tire blew out

That was good motivation to figure it out

I mean, I could probably figure it out if I absolutely had to. And there's certainly a non-zero chance I don't break or lose something in the process.
But no I don't currently know how.

Its really not difficult you just need to make sure youre in a safe area away from traffic. Anyone with at least mild strength can do it even if self taught.

Yes and have done many times to my car and other people's cars.
Can do most minor things like change breaks, hand break cable, spark plugs, filters, oil change. When your first car is a cheap piece of crap you need to know. Me and my dad would always do this type of work ourselves, these days I don't tend to do all the work myself as it's easier to take it to a garage most of the time.

But the last time, I couldn't do it myself as the wheel had old grit which locked the tire in place.

Who calls AAA for a flat? It takes, like, ten minutes to do it yourself.
