FE: Still chuggin' along nicely, starting to be able to promote some dudes. I want to see the rest of this game quickly so I can move on to Pokemon Snap and/or Disgaea 6!

Smash: Dracula's Castle was fun but I'm kinda glad to be done with it. I think I'm close to the end but I've thought that for like the whole pandemic.

Gunnerkrigg 23-24: Okay but Parley and Smitty. Also: LASER COWS.

Aria 3-5- That Keepsake Clover...: Aika is bummed out that she and Akira don't seem to have standout talents compared to their counterparts. Akira comforts her with a story about how Aika actually as a kid inspired Akira to make up for talent with hard work. Lots of quality Akira content here, and Aika gets to tell *herself* no sappy lines allowed.

The Rest of Marble League 2016: Daaaaang, the Savage Speeders came back at the end! I wish they would give us just a tiny bit longer to look at scores and such and parse the implications. Looks like 2017 is next! I'll probably stick with this for the forseeable future but I might skip a few projects.

Am trans, if anybody missed that topic.

Have to send computer off for repairs. >:\ Have backed up everything I could, and my old computer is serviceable in the interim, but it's still a pain! (also the old computer really seems to be in bad shape, which is why it's the old computer I guess)

I've been away for quite some time.

Playing Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare on Dreamcast. It's a very long time since I've revisited that game. In the last attempt, I was exploring the area in the game known as the Manor, and I unfortunately died inside the upstairs Attic portion. Next time should go smoother perhaps?

I also noticed my account is approaching 17 years. Wow, has it really been that long? I guess so.

That would be July 19th.

Finally got around to the steam sale, and picked up: Calico, 5D Time Travel Chess, Super Ledgehop, Dominions 4, ChessLocke, Cherry Tree Fight Club, QP Shooting, and Hero Generations Regen. Tried Hero Generations, and....couldn't really get into it, I dunno. On paper it seems like my kinda thing, but it just never really clicked, possibly because I never really got to a point where I felt like I was making much progress. ChessLocke is interesting so far though.

Among the things I have (probably) lost in the hard drive crash is my backlog doc of games and stuff :( So next time I have a Steam slot I'll just have to pick from the 0 playtime games instead of hitting them in order!

A harddrive crash? Ah man, I know what that is like. This PC right here had the hard drive just straight up and die a couple of years back. What fun it was to reinstall everything from scratch....

Actually, it wasn't that bad, it just took the whole day, since the computer was restarting with nothing but a blank hard drive.

My PS3 hard drive was at the brink of crashing too, so, I was able to get it to work long enough to back up all necessary stuff, only to replace it just last year. The new one has double the storage capacity, so that was nice. [250 GB to 500 GB]

Also, more on Alone in the Dark: I reached the Library Boss Fight, and well, I did something that triggered a known infinite HP glitch, so there was no way I could kill the boss. In the previous times I've played it, I have not encountered this before, so, it did catch me off guard until I looked up information regarding that lovely glitch.

Glitch sounds sucky D: And yeah, I think there is some sort of hardware issue because even a factory reset didn't help. It's one of two internal drives, and I haven't had the computer more than a few months (and my old one is still serviceable in a pinch), so thankfully it's not AS much data loss and inconvenience as it could be.

Alone in the Dark: I actually got past the glitch. One of the guides mentions you have to exit and enter the room, then save, quit the game, and then reload the save. Crazy, but it worked.

After the boss fight, it was quite a list of puzzles to solve to get outside of the manor, and then, it was back to the beginning area of the game. A bunch of creatures are blocking your path, but I did weave my way through them, and used the final key item to advance to the next area and the start of Disc 2.

A hard drive malfunction only a few months in seems odd. Most hard drives last at least 10 years. Glad to hear it wasn't a total data loss though.

Disgaea 2: Just a quick Subpoena run! Turned off animations in the interest of finishing this decade.

Trails SC: Had to google where the stone circle was, lol. Tough miniboss and then I triggered a mimic right after lol, but we made it!

Eva 1.11, 2.22, and 3.33: Felt like the first two were pretty good, and then 3.33 went back to good ol' ???? territory. Kinda an interesting divergence though! But man I wish it could be clearer about what is happening and why and how.

Chesslocke: Getting the hang of it! Starting to wonder if there's an ending, but for now there are still kinda interesting levels.

Alone in the Dark: Ran into some issues with solving a few of the early puzzles on Disc 2, but things become more about surviving lots of enemies towards the final half of that disc than anything else. As for backtracking elements, those are mostly gone in the second half, as a lot of areas coming down to follow a mostly linear path from point A to B while trying to not get killed. Most enemies do a fair amount of damage to your HP.

When it was too tight to get around, the flame thrower type weapon was the go-to option for clearing the way. I just had to be aware of the gas canister usage, an item that recovers the weapon's ammo, since it would use the entire canister regardless of how much or little it recovered. So, be careful not to reload the weapon in the inventory too soon. [I made that mistake once, when ammo was at 89%, burning through a whole canister only for 11%, ouch!]

Disc 2 only had one boss, naturally the final boss. It's a weird battle though, damaging it was inconsistent. Sometimes, firing right at the boss would cause ammo to go right through it, and other times, damage was actually registered. I probably used twice the ammo necessary on the encounter, plowing through large amounts of rocket launcher ammo. Needless to say, I had enough, while burning through a whole stack of first aid kits to stay alive.

I might play through the game as the secondary main character as well.

Jam, summer's over already! Kinda got away from me. Well, with school starting back up, at the very least there'll be audiobooks to write up!

The Light Fantastic: It's a good time so far, but it kinda feels like the first one in that it kinda feels like a bunch of short stories rather than a cohesive whole. But at least they're entertaining? It also seems like we might actually wind up with an overarching plot, too, with the whole saying all the Eight Spells.

Les Mis: Marius still creepin'.

Do you usually do the anime or manga?

Have only tried manga for One Piece- seems less intimidating that way.

Discworld: Have finished up Light Fantastic and moved on to Sourcery, which I particularly like so far. We have an overarching plot this time, which was one of my big hangups so far, although I still have a shorter attention span than I used to and it's still a book where if I space out for ten seconds we're in a completely different location with a half dozen new characters whose introduction I missed. Still, this is now officially a series I can get into, I think. (which seems odd to decide on book 4, but they're really short!) I'd still rather be doing more Cosmere or Three-body, but these will work nicely until I can track those down. I miss Twoflower but it's nice having Kanina around, and Coin seems interesting.

Eva 3.33+1.01/7 Days and Knuckles: Not gonna lie, all it did for me was trigger a mild bout of depression. Visuals and music were on point as ever. Plot was inscrutable and inserted into its own orifices as ever. I wound up not really caring about *any* of the characters by the end- usually I can at least kinda enjoy Rei and Misato. Shinji is still A Bit Too Real, Man. Ending seemed a bit out of left field, but I will happily take "a bit out of left field" over....whatever the others had. The gratuitous fanservice level would have made me uncomfortable even if I was much younger and more hormonal. All in all, it was....another Eva reboot, albeit with a nice fresh coat of paint. Mental health stuff that I get enough of in my daily life, Russo swerves, and random deep dive Christian jargon. I ain't into it but I don't begrudge people who are, and it was nice to see what the franchise could do with an actual budget behind it.

Things are looking up IRL, which hasn't yet translated to my getting back to any of my shows or games or anything, but life is good despite...*gestures vaguely at the world*

Lucha 1-32: Puma/Mundo All Night Long for the title. Doesn't get much better than that, I reckon! The episode-length Ironman is a pretty cute gimmick, too. Konnan is conspicuously absent, but I was convinced he was gonna turn last time so what do I know. Slam through a wooden box, haven't seen that before! Striker has a dig at Hornswoggle. Crowbar to Puma's dome, daggum! Mundo gets to a 4-1 lead off that, which seems like a wide gap even with how early it is. Mundo hangs out with the band and has them play a song, and then Puma El Kabongs him, good stuff. (followed by a spear off the roof through four tables!) I haven't seen many ironman matches, so I don't know what tropes are common, but I appreciate Mundo just straight up running away lol. Alberto runin....and promo? Title picture is more crowded than B8WL, man. Puma over, excellent match. (****)

Sourcery: Sometimes a setting or scenario will kinda tickle my creative urges, but I don't really have an outlet for it. Like I want to make/run/play a game or write a story with that as a jumping off point, but can't figure out any specifics beyond "that's a cool setting." The mage wars that we are alluding to and trying to prevent are one such setting, with all the mages creating these towers and carving out territory and taking each other out. Anyway, beated. This was solid! New characters, an actual plot, good stuff. Eric is next up.

I picked up Mark Out! now that it's in early release. It has a lot of cool ideas and nice polish for early access, but the core gameplay leaves a lot to be desired for now- there appears to be a breaking strategy of "take one hit, then counter everything until opponent mills," and there don't seem to be many interesting gameplay decisions even if you don't just decide to be a cheesy turtle. It feels odd to say "everything but the core gameplay is great, so I'm excited to see what they do with it later," but it's a card game so all that really needs to happen is to make some more mechanically interesting cards and incentivize people to, y'know, actually play them. On the plus side, there's a lot of interesting modding stuff. I took it very seriously:

Eric: Was pretty okay! I was tickled by the corporate Hell and the parrot's "Wosname." Library didn't have the next Rincewind or Threebody or Cosmere, or the first Death, so I am shifting over to a different Discworld with Going Postal. This one might take more than a week :O

Wildermyth: A B8er who may or may not want credit randomly gifted me this. I was just gonna mess around a bit to check it out, but it really got its hooks in me right off the bat! Looks like it will scratch my recent itches for procedural storytelling and character building, as well as my ongoing love of replay value and interesting teambuilding mechanics. I'm digging the comic book/papercraft visual presentation, and the monsters that feel like they came from RWBY. I don't know how much of what I've seen is procedural and how much is scripted, but the story has managed to hook me regardless, and feels like "mine." One of my starting people retired to become a seer! Another lost an arm and got it replaced with a sword! A new guy got possessed by a gorgon and is showing lingering effects! The magic system is pretty sweet too- you connect to parts of your environment and channel attacks through them. (I've spent a lot of time blowing up furniture at monsters, so far) As I continue to kinda shake off some of my mental fog and burnout, this is the first time I have been this excited about a game in a whiiiiiile. It doesn't have an official "slot" in the rotation but don't be surprised if it shows up a lot anyway.

We (mostly Wifebolo but I was there for most of it) finished Deep Space 9! I think it might actually be my favorite Trek so far. (competing with ToS and TNG, but all three are quite good) Lots of strong character work and interaction, even by Trek standards, and Sisko is every bit as cool as Kirk and Picard, which surprised me. Also lots of jazz for some reason!

Wildermyth: Still really like this. I'm on my second campaign now, rolling up myself, my wife, and a friend (Pez/Herring) as my party but supplementing it with Legacy people that pop up. That's pretty fun! Wifebolo is weeeeirdly accurate in her personality, and I have a dumb looking wolf head and a permanent injury, now. This time we're dealing with uprisings of steampunky golemy dudes.

Going Postal: Nice to have a book that's more than like three CDs long, lol. "Eldritch Post Office" is not a combo I would've come up with, but that's why he's Terry Pratchett and I'm not; let's see where it goes. I really like the cast this time around- Mr. Pump just called Moist out on his crap, and Stanley is making me want to collect pins myself.
