MGS games always have credits music with lyrics, and it started using pre-existing songs with MGS3's use of Way to Fall by StarSailor.

Not sure what's different about MGS4 using Nicola and Bart.

I remember not understanding the significance of it in MGS4 but I read, sometime after beating GZ, that MGS4's ending was rumored to be drastically different and the song was supposed to kinda match it
