I don't think so as long as they can prove the knee on his neck contributed to his death.

It's about get the facts and information of the case correct, not preventing riots or promoting agendas.

But I read (I think on Yahoo maybe?) that an independent examiner came to a completely different conclusion, that the death was by asphyxiation and not related to any substances, and was in direct disagreement with the official autopsy.

Wouldn't it make things a little muddier? His defense could say it played a part in his death and I think a jury may believe that and he could get a lesser sentence.

This. It's no different than beating the shit out of someone and sending them to the ICU. If they die 3 months later in the ICU because of their injuries, it's murder. That cop started the clock as soon as he put his knee on Floyd's neck.

It's what the autopsy results showed and nothing more, it wasn't a deliberate "drug test" for the sake of being a drug test.

Again I did read somewhere that an independent examiner did an additional autopsy and concluded that the cause of death was asphyxiation, in direct disagreement with the official autopsy. Wish I could find that story again.

I'm pretty sure this is just standard procedure when it comes to an autopsy. They didn't test him to get dirt on him, I think it's just something they do with every body.

I found this, it might not be the exact thing you read:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/01/us/george-floyd-independent-autopsy/index.html

The independent autopsy says Floyd died of "asphyxiation from sustained pressure" when his neck and back were compressed by Minneapolis police officers during his arrest last week. The pressure cut off blood flow to his brain, that autopsy determined.

But the medical examiner's office, in its report also released Monday, said that the cause of death is "cardiopulmonary arrest complicating law enforcement subdual, restraint, and neck compression." Cardiopulmonary arrest means Floyd's heart failed.

Yes, there's been multiple autopsies. An independent autopsy ruled his death a homicide, but I don't think that one holds up in court.

major point here is that for the second autopsy many organs were missing, i've not seen it detailed witch but since they're talking about cardiopulmonary issues i'd guess at least the heart and possibly the lungs/kidneys.

Independent "anything" do not have much merit in court.... Only accredited entities do. The entities have already ruled drug use to be aided by physical force (knee). So as long as it's kept to a believable standard (3rd degree), the cop is going to jail, there is no way in hell around it. Don't fret dude. You're thinking too much.
