People who drive drunk and crash have too many safety measures protecting them. They get to buy new, safer cars and attempt to kill others on the road multiple times.

It'd be kinda nice if cars could analyze the BAC from the driver remotely and decide "hey, you know what? imma not deploy the airbags this time"

Cars should be able to self toggle the last ~25-30 years of safety tech depending onthe state of the driver.

so to be clear. Your solution to DWI, is not to stop the DWI, but is to allow the driver to kill someone as long as they get hurt too.

Jesus christ.

Wat no, it's not changing the safety for the innocents, just the internal safety measures for drunk bastards behind the wheel.

Hopefully when they crash their deathtrap onto a tree or something, they won't get the chance to repeat the process.

So you'd rather the car still allow them to drive instead of simply not starting/turning off?

Complete self driving cars would be the answer, but they're not going to be 100% self driving for ages. Until then I believe culling the numbers of people who willingly drive while intoxicated is a good solution.

How about the car won't turn on if the breath test fails?

Sounds like your idea is coming from a place of spite. Because they're doing wrong, they should get screwed over. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Make a Federal Driving Regulation that if you get convicted of a DUI, all vehicles that you own will require a IID (Ignition Interlock Device).

That becomes a "PERMANENT" requirement for the rest of your existence as long as you're able to drive.
