We have grown up knowing about MLK, Gandhi, and Mandela and how they successfully advanced human rights thru peaceful means. However, American history books fail to teach us the big sticks they were carrying behind their backs to make these peaceful protests successful. If it weren't for the unrest that followed George Floyd's death, would that same cop still be patrolling the streets right now?
Lets start with the abolition of slavery in the USA: Took America's deadliest war in history to end, not the morality politicians Independence of India- Yes Gandhi was an important figure in history, but the British Empire was collapsing from WW2 and India was a gigantic ticking time bomb at this point. <See spoilers below> American Civil Rights movement- This one is the most complicated one and a whole topic in itself, but I'm just going to leave this here. Following the King assassination riots, Congress urgently revived the Civil Rights at of 1968(the most filibustered legislation in US history) and got it to pass....Wattttt Apartheid South Africa- Lets end Apartheid or face economic devastation from sanctions and fight deadly civil war like your dead northern brother Rhodesia....hmmmmm --- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdR2Iktffaw The day Capitalism was humiliated :) ...
