White supremacists have infested law enforcement all over the country. They never left actually, US police have always been filled with racists. Too many innocent African Americans have been harrassed, and fucking killed. It needs to end.

Nah, people acted like BLM just kind of died out and didn't really accomplish anything but this is literally just the latest, and arguably biggest, protest they've been involved in. I don't see people just forgetting about this and moving on, when people have been complaining about this shit for fucking years now and have been getting louder and more aggressive with civil unrest.

It...did die out though. There wasn't a peep from it until now. So yeah this will go away again and then pop up some other time. Cycle continues, etc.

Bullshit. It's called putting things into historical perspective, instead of running around like Chicken Little shouting that the sky is falling at least once a month whenever there's a public disturbance ("It's the start of another civil war!!!") or tension in a troublespot around the world ("It's the start of World War 3!!!").

What it is not is some kind of denial that there needs to be change. Accepting the need for change doesn't mean there's a need for shrieking klaxons of melodrama and hyperbole heralding the End Times.

No, I'm someone who's got the fucking nerve to point out that the USA was boiling over with anger in the 1960s even worse than it is now, and despite the violence, there was no civil war. A toxic legacy of bitterness, cynicism and distrust? Certainly.

Oh, I'm not saying it's entirely beyond the realm of possibility. If Trump wins a second term, then at the end of it -- when he no longer has to even pretend to give the smallest shit about the America that didn't vote for him in 2016 or 2020 -- just imagine what he might do in his last few months to carve his name like a permanent scar on American and world history.

I'm just saying that if it were to actually happen, then you can predict a civil war.
