the plot thickens.

3rd degree murder though. definitely not first degree premeditated.

"Chauvin was our off-duty police for almost the entirety of the 17 years that we were open," Santamaria said. "They were working together at the same time, it's just that Chauvin worked outside and the security guards were inside."

So they likely didn't know each other very well, if at all. I'll note that at one of my previous companies I worked with 50 other people on the same floor (and there were maybe 150-200 people working in just that office) and, despite being there for years, there were a lot of people whose names I didn't know and wouldn't recognize on the street.

given chauvin's track record of murder and police brutality, i have 0 desire to give him the benefit of the doubt.

At most its 2nd degree, intent to kill, but it was in the heat of the moment wanting it. Not pre planned, no way it is firsr degree.

What benefit is there to be gained? If the two had a prior animosity, it would have been noted in the story. The fact that they both worked to some extent for the same company -- in the case of Chauvin, it was just a side job -- may be of interest, but it's unlikely to be of relevance.
