It's recognizable. Think about it from a corporate viewpoint. Nobody in the Konami office cares about the integrity of the story of Silent Hill 2, a videogame released to minor acclaim in 2001. Put Heather in instead of James because James is a dorky loser while Heather is a cute vulnerable girl. People recognize Pyramid Head.They're just plugging the most superficially appealing pieces of their IP into the Dead by Daylight DLC formula.

Pyramid Head was ruined in Homecoming anyway when they turned it from a monster born of James' guilt to a bunch of cult worshippers who all dress exactly like Pyramid Head for ritual purposes.
