It could happen in any community though. I've seen police arrest people personally and have seen BS "excessive force" complaints and I've seen PO's take it too far because they're either bigoted or think theyre Frank Castle. Unfortunately it'll keep happening for God knows why.

The riots are not justified and are only making things worse. No peaceful protest, just a destructive, violent riot. This is not how to make your point and be heard. The rioters should receive prison sentences due to the level of destruction and chaos.

Multiple onlookers peacefully begged police officers to let George Floyd breathe. A riot is one of the unfortunate consequences of desperate peaceful pleas being deliberately ignored.

I dont know if it was T.I. but I know someone I follow on Instagram posted a video of some stuff in DC. Im not sure if it was today or what but it was people trying to rough up cops and it did not end well for the people. The few that didnt run away were all handcuffed when I skimmed through the video.

Riots are bad.

But we should recognize that there are two different kinds of people saying this. One person wants to fix the underlying systemic issues that led to rioting so as to raise the standard of living in that community and prevent rioting in the first place. The other person just wants to condemn the community rioting and has never been interested in actually fixing the underlying problems.

Looting shit like Target: bad. Simply opportunists either A. Invoking themselves to flip the narrative like that sketchy guy who's rumored to be a cop just smashing shit in what was otherwise a peaceful protest to start something or B. People taking advantage of a situation to get free shit.

Rioting and targeting relevant locations like that precinct is where it gets kind of ambiguous for me. Peaceful should theoretically be the way to go, but what do you honestly expect to happen when peaceful protests are met with tear gas and pellets? Not to mention the numerous gaffes Minneapolis, state government, and Trump as a whole are continuing to make. This was bound to happen. And its only going to get worse unless the actual catalyst event is handled.

Worst part is that all this destruction is doing more to hurt innocent people that had absolutely nothing to do with the situation. Sadly that is what happens when people refuse to let due process run its course and let anger control them.

Unfortunately, the reality is that everyone is loser in this case since the message of the protesters will be lost due to the bad apples that decided to take advantage of the situation and raise anarchy. The people of the city that had their property destroyed despite having absolutely nothing to do with it.

Nope. Difference here is that one group was protecting their communities. They were self sustained. The other is destroying it, unsustainable

I feel like the looting and destroying stuff are definitely wrong. It just doesn't feel right once innocent who want nothing to do with this unfortunate event get screwed as well.

And the scary part is some people actually think that the riot is necessary, and even the looting is justified.

If there was any expectation of accountability for the murder that happened here I don't think there would be riots, but people have spent decades and decades (some even their entire lifetime) seeing cops kill black people, moderate whites wash their hands of the situation and make excuses, and courts let them got scot-free so they can just carry on like nothing happened or become a cop a county over or something.

The police force is corrupt and protects dangerous and abusive officers, the system that is supposed to provide accountability to them is completely broken, and the scariest part about it is there isn't a hint of it ever getting better. And while I don't know if getting angry and breaking shit is the answer to that problem, it also doesn't surprise me that we're getting to the point where it feels like the only thing to do for people for that reason
