Note this doesn't have a hidden meaning or anything and please don't make this about real world stuff, this just a fun skyrim post.

I was thinking about starting over with Skyrim. I have never finished the game I start playing get lost in 40 hours. Then I play a new game and by time I am ready to come back to Skyrim I need to start over since I have forgotten every thing that I did. Anywho... think of changing races from what I normally play and was just wondering..

Like the cat people are hated and forced to be outside of the city, and in some towns dark Elves are treated very poorly being forced to live in the ghetto and stuff. I normally play as a human race, so i don't know. Does the game play different or cut you out of things if you are one of these disrespected races ? Heck for that matter do the high elves get treated better.

As far as I know your race has no bearing on the game at all, besides how random people might greet you

No major difference. Some NPCs will be more or less friendly depending on what race you are, but none flat out block you out from any quests or dialogue.

Some races have passives that cannot he replicated, but are minor. The Khajiit have a night vision ability and higher unarmed combat due to their claws, Argonians can breathe underwater. Shit like that. Each race does have skill trait bonuses that will affect how good you are with certain things to start, but you can always make up the difference. I usually play as an Argonian tho. Make sure you get mods if you can. They make the game infinitely better

I dont rhink you get cut off from parts of the game. Doesn't each race have some special skills though? It changes that.

Stat bonuses... but it's negligible, and almost all of it can be replicated through enchanting. So do what you want.

Nord frost resistance and Dunmer fire weakness aren't minor.

High elves are slightly taller than all other races which is why they're best for speed runs. Also the natural resistances like nords and cold, and stuff like an orc's berserk can't be replicated with any other skill. But overall it doesn't change much.

Lemme tell you why Khajiits are the best race. According to The Real Barenziah, Chapter 3, Khajiits have barbs on their dick. They are thus the most alpha of races.

I prefer Nord just for the fact I generally side with the stormcloaks, but Briton has magic resist which is quite handy.

At the end of the day, as others have mentioned, it really doesnt affect anything aside from how youre greeted, and which passive effect you have

Great game! Platinumd it twice lol

Happy gaming

There is a routine that scale your movement speed, jump height, and damage output based on your race height.
High Elves are the tallest race (at 1.08), which should give them a small boost over the other races, but Bethesda messed up and put the players value at 1.00 no matter what race you pick.
You can however change this value with a console command, which gives you that boost.
Every race starts with different skill levels and spells, but you can easily overcome those differences with a few levels.
Every race got an unique power that you can use once per day. Basically they are worthless lowlevel spells, all races can get better spells/armor attachments that they can cast multiple times.
High Elf - Regenerate 25% of the character's maximum magicka per second for 60 seconds
Argonian - Regenerate health 10 times faster for 60 seconds.
Wood Elf - Make all surrounding animals your allies for 60 seconds.
Breton - Absorb 50% of magicka from all incoming spells for 60 seconds.
Dark Elf - Surrounds the character in fire for 60 seconds.
Imperial - Nearby people are Calmed for 30 seconds.
Khajiit - Improved Night Vision for 60 seconds (can be toggled multiple times per day).
Nord - Nearby enemies are Frightened for 30 seconds.
Orc - Take half damage and do double physical damage for 60 seconds.
Redguard - Regenerate stamina 10 times faster for 60 seconds.

Each race also got a specific race effect that is a tiny bonus. In the end, it makes no big difference because you will be able to attach better stats on your armors. 50 extra Magicka doesnt change the game and while some extra resistance sounds good, you will have enough HP so you will rarely be in situations where those bonus resistances will make a difference. Orcs allows you to enter Orc camps, but all races can do that after a quest.
Imperals finds slightly more gold than the other races, but it is no game changer.
Waterbreathing can be nice in a handful of situations, but you can put it on your armor as well.
Khajiit got a small boost in Unarmed Damage, if you want to do a fist fighting run.

Altmer: +50 Magicka
Argonian 50% Disease Resistance, Waterbreathing
Bosmer 50% Disease Resistance, 50% Poison Resistance
Breton 25% Magic Resistance
Dunmer 50% Fire Resistance
Imperial Find more gold than usual
Khajiit +15 Base Unarmed Damage
Nord 50% Frost Resistance
Orsimer Are allowed to enter Orc mining camps and strongholds without first becoming Blood-kin.
Redguard 50% Poison Resistance
