Fuck cops. I've never committed a crime in my life and have been profiled by these racist Boston cops most of my life. I've had drugs planted in my car, an ex gf was groped by a cop, and I've been manhandled by cops for no fucking reason.

And the supposed "good cops" will support the worst of them because of this brotherhood nonsense.

They're still people, most of them are just trying to do a tough job. The job does have a built in authority, that can be scary with the wrong people.

Honestly I'm a bit skittish around cops, because one time when I was 9, maybe 10 years old I was approached by a cop in a convenience store and he asked me questions about a missing (presumably stolen) bicycle.

I was scared out of my mind.

Those "legit honorable" ones know what goes down with the scumbags and don't do shit about it. Therefore none of them are honorable with few exceptions.

I'm talking about the ones who put duty and oath first over comradery and hold their coworkers accountable... I'm the last person to snitch on someone, but if you're in the business of being the arm of the law, then you should uphold it to the last letter.

Nope. my image of them is based on their corrupt system. If you're a good cop who sweeps that corruption under the rug then you're not a good cop. I don't think all cops are terrible people but the job you chose and how you choose to participate in the debauchery also shapes how others view you. They can say they put duty first, but the fact that nothing has changed and the system remains terrible says otherwise.

I never met any good cops. All I ever see are cops that murder and abuse civilians, and get away with it because of their badge and uniform. 95% of them use excessive force for any arrest.

The company I work for does a lot of work with state and local law enforcement. I've interacted with more than a few officers at precincts and had no issues, but there was one time where something was said that made me very uncomfortable. I know there are good cops, but the position seems to attract a certain kind of person and they seem to get the most press.

This is somewhat of a dangerous mentality. Its the one example of a person associated with a group doing something shitty means ALL of them are responsible.

Its what leads to police being shot on sight just for being a cop. There are scumbags out there, yes. That doesnt mean every cop out there deserves to be put on blast cuz a shitty person did a horrible thing.

isn't a giant problem (that is partly caused by beloved unions). There is a balance that needs to be maintained between allowing cops to do their jobs, which is going to require in some cases having to make impossible decisions in real time and letting bad cops act on racial and other prejudices to do horrible things.

their system and the corruption they either take part in or ignore is what is being put on blast. Either fix that corruption or get a new job if you can't handle the criticism of it. No one forced them to be cops. Anyone can be a cop. Its not like it takes a super warrior who needs to physically train like The Rock. Any out of shape and morally corrupt dweeb can attempt to be one and get in. We should be hiring the best and demanding better as the public. not sitting idly because "yea but they might be nice people on their day off"...again, its the system. I'm not calling out specific cops. I'm calling out a broken system that 1. attracts terrible people like the cop in MN and 2. allows the morally bankrupt to control it.

I've personally, in my area, have seen cops doing more acts of good than anything else, and they have always been kind to me (I am white, so maybe it's privilege). They're all humans, and I feel like it's like any profession, it's sadly going to attract some real assholes but also have some good human beings trying to do a tough job that they can die anytime at.

I used to try and have a passive outlook on law enforcement as a whole since a few of my relatives are cops, but that sentiment has soured over the years.
The times I've head to personally deal with police it's been almost exclusively negative.

One time when I was assaulted with multiple witnesses, the cops that came didn't really believe me and weren't helpful at all until they got video footage, despite my wife and 3 good a telling them I was just strangled.

On a separate occasion, my wife was involved in a hit and run where some teenagers ran a read light (at a camera intersection mind you) and t-boned her. She was injured and hurt, but the cops that appeared at the scene kept telling her over and over "Well can you REALLY be sure you're not the one who ran a red?" (Spoilers: video footage showed she was not) while we waited for EMS to show up.

And a third time in recent memory, my wife was driving the two of us home, got pulled over by a cop who said she went through a stop sign at 30 mph and was giving her an attitude over it. I was in the passengers seat the entire time, she stopped. The guy was just a dick, and that stretch of road is notorious for people getting pulled over constantly for unfair tickets.

So yeah. I don't really look at them with fondness. I get that each officer is an individual and they have a hard job, but by and large it seems like there's more bad ones than good ones.

If youre smart its pretty easy to see that the OVERWHELMING majority of cops are just regular people who respectfully carry out their daily duties and serve their communities.

Having hate and discontent for the higher institution makes sense. But to blindly hate all cops as individuals... you probably gotta be a sensationalist moron to do that.
