Yeah, I actually argued with someone like this on Facebook. He was claiming the CDC admitted to instructing healthcare providers to include non-COVID-19 deaths in the COVID-19 death counts. I asked him for his source and he insisted his source was the CDC.

I pressed further, saying that I can say the CDC told everyone the sky is green. He then posted an article from the washington post about how different states are counting deaths. The article directly contradicted almost everything he said. I also found an article from the CDC about how they're *actually* counting COVID-19 deaths and it obviously said nothing of the sort.

The CDC director also confirmed a long time ago that many people who were recorded as flu/pneumonia deaths probably had covid and just never got tested

In a nutshell: people age 65+ account for the majority of deaths from Covid, majority of deaths were also people with underlying issues, and deaths from people 45 and younger with no issues are extremely rare.

I was legitimately asking what the point and relevance was of bringing that up. It was out of context, like it often appears to be when people post it and I still don't understand why they do. So I asked for clarification of their point.

Gambling on the hope that hot weather will greatly reduce transmission.

Given that they recently determined surface smear contact was probably not a major transmission route, and that the summer heat would have mainly curbed that while doing very little for what's left (inhaling micro-particles from coughs or getting them into your eyes), possibly even increasing the chances of that since summer heat would make it harder for people to wear masks...

I wouldn't count on it.

but the topic is about the death toll, not about the risk by age groups.

So once again whats the point in posting it? Everyone knows the older are more vulnerable, so what impact does it have on the discussion of the death toll if the intention wasnt to detract from the severity of said death toll?
