Regardless of how objectively good it might be?

The fact that somebody is a horrible person often has no adverse impact on their ability to create content (other than maybe the association being distracting). Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, and countless others are sex offenders yet their work is widely praised. Robert Downey Jr's substance abuse issues actually helped him seem a more credible Tony Stark.

Some of the really successful ones get away with their crimes. Woody Allen molested one daughter, got the DA to drop the case, and then engaged in an appropriate relationship with another daughter. Zero ramifications. Roman Polanski is a fugitive from the US, but other nations are okay with this crime and other allegations.

No.

But someone's character can make it harder for someone else to appreciate the quality of what that person has produced. And those people aren't necessarily wrong for feeling that way.

Chris Benoit basically went batshit crazy and murdered his wife and son, then committed suicide. This doesn't alter the fact that he was one of the best wrestlers of his generation, and possibly of all time. But now there are people who used to love him who cannot stand going back to watch any of his prior matches and cannot do so without feeling extremely uncomfortable, and he will never, ever be inducted into any wrestling hall of fame, ever. The objective reality of the work is unaffected, but the subjective interpretation of it has absolutely changed.

The fact that this is a subjective reaction means that it isn't universal. For some people, the fact that Bryan Singer has been accused of multiple instances of what is essentially homosexual sexual assault of underage victims will make it very, very hard for them to ever watch the original X-Men movies again. For others, their fondness for the films transcends whatever the director of them may have been up to. Neither perspective is really wrong.

The topic is about lack of character. Whether somebody is a murderer, rapist, thief, alcoholic, drug user, drug dealer, or a million other things, they're lacking in character. Pretending otherwise is either incredibly disingenuous (not to mention logically fallacious -- the fact that one thing is worse than another doesn't mean that the other thing isn't bad) or absurdly naive.

I didn't like him before he became a murderer and I never thought he had much talent, in addition to being a bit on the small side.

I agree tbh

I've enjoyed media from questionable (and beyond questionable) people. But I definitely understand people that don't.

It also depends on how I'm feeling that day, and what they did.

Also depends on how much of it is bleeding through in their work. I don't think I could watch Killer Clowns From Outer Space, but I do enjoy Jeepers Creepers.
