FFT has always seemed overrated to me. Most of the classes are absolutely worthless and the main difficulty comes from rage inducing random team kills from an enemy mage just randomly nuking your team.

Terrible game. Really P2W, grindy, tons of bugs, you need to spend literally hundreds, if not over a thousand dollars to unlock 2x speed, and the equipment crafting is the worst thing I've ever seen.

The break skills (which is all of the knight skills) are trash. The aim skills (which is all of the archer skills) are trash. The jump skills (which is all of the lancer skills) are trash.

The starting classes are mostly absolute garbage then you get the Monk that has healing and damage and cleansing skills and you get your hero characters that can smash groups and you ignore most classes. Or you look up a guide and build up some ridiculous build based on min maxing random stats and abusing obscure mechanics.

Its trash. Ioved it at times as a kid but looking back it is complete garbage compared to better thought out games int he same genre. Play Xcom 2 and then we can laugh together at how horrifyingly bad in the job system in FFT is.

x2 is barely even worth it. You get 1.5 for free and thats all you need.

on topic TC: its okay. I played since launch and I have Ramza, TGCid, and Gaffgarion all maxed out. I have a few others maxed out.

its fun, content can be challenging and the design is well done. Were still a bit behind in QOL changes that JP have but the updates have been bridging the gap pretty damn quick.

The grind isnt that bad cause you can auto repeat missions so if I have to really grind out mats I just set it to auto and watch tv/play a game. Its fun and Im enjoying it but its a GUMI game so its far from perfect.

for a gatcha though its fine. If you decide to check it out though know going in you have to really only spend on shards, do pulls for units is only worth getting the unit once, after that use the shop to buy shards to max. Overal maybe a 6/10 bumped up to 7/10 cause I love FFT and it scratches that itch.

You'd be wrong. You can generally prevent a single enemy mage from nuking your team just by not bunching up and all of the classes are viable units. They're not equally balanced, but its possible to solo the game with most of the classes.

You might already know this, but FFT was the spiritual successor to Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, which got a great remake on the PSP. So if you havent played that, itll scratch that itch.

But what about the bugs? Constant freezing in PvP, random crashes, and what pisses me off the most is how half the time I dont get a reward for watching ads. It wont even count towards the 100 for free Visiore.

And the AI is so fucking stupid it makes ranged units near unplayable in the arena. Mages will charge up AoE attacks only to have them go off when a friendly unit is in range. Or theyll target an enemy that another unit will kill on the very next turn, causing them to waste both their turn and AP. Or a gunner could be 5 spaces away from a melee unit, meaning theyre within their attack range but free from retaliation, and theyll fucking run TOWARDS them <_<

Not to mention they literally copy/pasted a map(s) from TAC.

And the equipment system is by far the worst Ive ever seen in any game.

And you need to grind like crazy for shards. Getting 2 a day when you need like 600 to MLB a unit is just madness.

I don't even understand your argument. Some of the starting classes have skills you think are bad (I disagree with jump), so the game is trash? Even if their active skills are usually they have some support skills to grab to make up for it. Most classes have their use though.

Gameplay wise it's great.
The problem comes from it being gacha P2W VIP bullshit. Like, you get 2x/2.5x speed mode after spending hundreds or thousand dollars in the game while free player stuck with 1.5 speed.

the bugs are hit or miss for me. Im on IOS. Ive had some crashes in pvp for sure but not enough to bother me, id say maybe 1 every 3-4 days or so. It should be none but meh. I dont watch the adds for the vision draw, it just seemed worthless even if it worked lol, I only do the free daily draws once too so I cant speak about that. The stamina ones never give me issue though.

The grind for MLB is some shit thats for sure but Im coming from summoners war where Ive had year stretches without anything halfway decent. That game can boil some blood for sure cause 5 stars are some bullshit. So for me Im biased cause getting the character is still luck but once you have them its only a year (without buying shards) and you can do 5 at a time. Half a year with resets but fuck that.

I would def not suggest to anyone to invest in it but if you need a phone game its about par imo. They give out a lot of visore so as long as that doesnt change Im okay with it. Ive been buying Xiza shards with my visore but Ill prob wait on her and start saving for Delita/Agrias lol.

The AI is stupid but JP has toggle abilities which helps a lot so once that QOL comes it will mitigate some of the pain at least. Not all of it but some.

most the ones I hear about are either kinda boring gameplay wise or they have similar gatcha mechanics where either its really hard to get characters like in summoners war, or you have to get shards like Im marvel strike force or the Star Wars one. Anything anyone recommends?

this one is the latter.
pretty good battle system, but not only hard to get units, but also the unit shards to upgrade them. and there's also this hard to get vision cards to unlock the unit's full potential, so double gacha + intense farming.
i say the battle system is better than FFT, but that's pretty low bar to begin with.

the only recommendation I have is to stay away from gacha games.
