For any reason. For me it's never been appealing. Evidently, with the kind of music I like, people beat the shit out of each other at concerts. Also hella loud. Tho i do regret not seeing Metallica's Hardwired tour. Darkman said it was a fantastic show. It was playing right across the street from my job. That's my one music regret

I've been to four but all of them have been as a tagalong.

First was Alice Cooper, who I actually can't stand, lol.
Then one was a performance of Handel's Messiah, which was p legit.
The other two were both Tommy Emmanuel, which I liked well enough but wouldn't go out of my way for a third.

I've considered a few more but ticket prices were lol. $200 for the back row at Steely Dan.

theyre not fun if you dont totally love the artist or arent drunk/fucked up

an actually good artist is usually better live than they are on the record tho. being able to see them actually perform and get in to the music and stuff

It's not for me. Even when voices are on top of their game, the official soundtracks sound better. Plus I'm not really a loyal fan of anyone. Most singers/bands have 1 to 6 songs I really like while the rest are just there.

I don't go nearly as often these days as when I was younger but I've been to tons of shows over the years. Started in my early teens.

I use to travel around with my friend's band. It was awesome. I got into shows for free and all I had to do was man the merch table for like 30 mins while they played. I got to see so many bands and party with cool people.

Great was the company of the preachers!!
This probably my favorite part.
I saw a quote that said, Bach could have written any of The Messiah, but this piece is the one he might have written.

Never been to a festival but I like to go to a few concerts a year. I'm not even really extroverted, I just love seeing my favorite musicians on stage. The whole energy is great.

I'm a little nervous, this year so far the only concert I had planned was Rammstein in August but with things going the way they are it will probably get canceled. Don't know if they'll schedule one for next year. Kinda bummed since I don't know if I'll ever get to see them live.

at one of the last concerts i went to, i saw someone wearing earplugs and it made me realize how much better i'd like a show like that. lol.

but yeah - loud, crowded, and the band plays whatever the latest stuff is... naaaaah i'll stay home and high, listening to deep cuts
Bands don't always play the latest stuff.

Social Distortion played one of their earliest albums because it was something like the 25th anniversary of that album.

And Third Eye Blind plays a lot of classic stuff - I actually felt bad when I saw them in concert because everyone was having fun, singing along and jumping around to their old stuff. Then the band announced their newest album was being published on that day so they wanted to play a new song and everyone sat down and started pulling out their phones >_>

Tbf this is because third eye blind is a nostalgia act that no one really cares about anymore

honestly I think most of the negative preconceived notions about shows people have posted itt in general are wrong

if youre seeing fresh, relevant shit the crowd will be into it whether theyre playing old stuff or new stuff

I used to be way better, think as I've gotten older I've probably prioritised more things.

Last show was Freddie Gibbs last year which was dope. Also was gonna go see Kevin Gates this March but that got cancelled unsurprisingly.

Last festival was with my gf in 2018 and it was super dope.

What's it like to not be put off by thousands of people being in your space i wonder? I mean I enjoy music but I can't/don't listen to it when I'm just chilling at home or work. Only in the car, really.

Well at any rate I think i'd see Metallica or Judas Priest if they play somewhere near me again (not in the city though). At least just to say I did, if anything

Like someone else said, it isn't necessarily 100% comfortable. If there's no place to sit and I'm stuck standing at a concert I also oftentimes feel out of place, especially since I'm like a magnet for that one drunk person that thinks it's gonna be SO AWESOME to leap back and forth between the crowd and knock into people.

But when you start to look around you realize a lot of other people are just standing there and watching, too. So after a few songs you kind of relax and understand that no one's judging anyone else, you're all just there to enjoy some music. It's kinda nice.

Yeah it really comes down to how you want to experience it

plus most festivals these days have giant screens and sound systems at every stage so you can see just fine no matter where you are

lay down a blanket farther back and enjoy your space. you still get the shared experience

You get some cool memories from concerts man.

I saw Calle 13 in concert and Residente gave a speech about people coming together and how we have to love each other and this girl gave me a hug and shouted "teee amooooo!"

Can't get that from a cd

Decent number of shows fairly regularly (pre-pandemic) but no festivals. My girlfriend is super into the jam band scene and all those events like Lockn and Hulaween and shit, but I dont have the patience or same level of passion. Also, I was working weekends for close to three years and have animals, so I couldnt afford to indulge in a vacation.

But you enjoy movies, not acting, so of course you want to see movies and not just people acting. Still seems weird that you dont like movie theaters but the comparison isnt there at all.

Where the komparison fails for theaters is a) I know exactly what media I'm getting, and b) a big theater screen, picture quality, and sound system are better than anything I have at home.
Loving music does not mean I love all music indiscriminately, even within a single genre or band, so fests/koncerts fail at point A. And again, with live performances, instruments and effects get left out, lone singers harmonizing with themselves becomes impossible, people tend to get tired and/or tongue-tied with fast lyrics/raps, ect... there's a lot in play that make live music inferior to what ever I have on home devices, so it's the opposite of point B.

And lastly, I don't usually do nothing while listening to music. I listen to music when I'm traveling (be it leisurely stroll, riding, or bus), while I'm at work (really helps get through the day. In some kases, gets my adrenaline up to move faster. Just gotta stop myself from singing when I'm in a office), messing around online, and while I'm gaming, if for whatever reason the game's sounds and music ain't doing it for me. At a show, I'm just there watching people sing, play instruments, and maybe dance while I do nothing. Essentially, it is a large package deal, when I'm only interested in one or two products/services/aspects.
