Razer Blackwidow Chroma with green switches. I know it's nothing amazing in the realm of MKs, but I priced matched Amazon's sale at Target plus 5% redcard discount so that worked out nicely.

So goddamn satisfying to type with. The sound, the feel, oh yeah.

that was me putting my hand down on my mechanical keyboard. with most membrane keyboards it wouldn't register most of the strokes.

that was me hitting consecutive keys without releasing the previous ones. ghosting would mean you hit s and h at the same time and it only registers one of the key strokes.

you can press say A and W (keyboards can recognize 20+ simultaneous presses) together and they will perform at the same time rather than a regular keyboard where you can only press one key at a time.

ghosting is when you press keys too fast in succession or at the same time and the keyboard will ignore those commands.

membrane keyboard has a rubber membrane with some form of conductive material on the underside. when you hit the key it compresses the membrane and strikes the board below it. mechanical keyboard has a mechanical switch.

Are your symbol keys / number keys all reversed?

On mine the symbols are underneath the numbers, it tripped me up the first time I noticed it.

Also I love it, though it drives my wife nuts.

mechanical switches are more sturdy, they hold up for much longer. you could literally dump a drink on a mechanical keyboard and it would still work, not true with a membrane one. they also generally feel better, especially if you remember typing on old keyboards before they made the switch to membrane.

Oh, okay. I thought it was like a mechanical pencil in that it worked differently or was more suited to a different task, but I take it it's more akin to comparing a 4k TV to a regular one?

The mechanical spring pushback is my favorite bit. It's very subtle but you notice your hands don't feel worn even after hours of writing shit up.

eh, kind of. though it can be argued that a mechanical keyboard is a much better typing keyboard while a membrane keyboard is more general purpose.
