Option 1). Drive to Utah/Nevada/Arizona for hiking, it is a 50 hour round trip drive to get there and back(5 days)

option 2). Go to Miami for like 2 days with my friend, but he is known to cause drama and I dont really care about drinking vacations

option 3). Take a cheap two day trip

option 4). Stay home and save money(600-700)

Stay home, dude. It's what I'm doing. I'm taking a week off at the end of the month for what would've been FanimeCon, but I'll mostly just be hanging out with my cat, Evan Williams, and Geralt of Rivia.

So youre able to cross state borders for non-essential reasons? Must be nice.

Canada. Several provinces have tightened their borders so that you cant drive across them for non-essential reasons. I figured the US would be similar since there are so many more cases.

I live in Utah, if you're going to Moab it's completely shut down for out of towners. They fined all the Coloradoans that came to camp at the closed campgrounds, and you'll definitely get fined for entering one of the national parks if you don't have a local license

But there is a ton of BLM land that has just has amazing hiking, people are still camping and hiking out there

There's actually surprising amount of regular tourism

Zion is also closed, and just as isolated? Moab is a bustling tourist town. Zion is actually extra closed because you can only go in on a bus, and there aren't any buses

Oh my source said closed guess I was wrong

Well if you've never seen the desert SW it's truly a wonder if the world. Zion is only a small part, I recommend driving the Escalante Scenic drive

Why not fly and rent a car? It's super cheap right now. I wouldn't do a 2.5 day drive across the shit part of the country for just a few days, but there is months worth of exploration in that region

The weather starts getting super hot in the desert in June but it's nice now

I could but the rona and no telling how a suddenly cancelled flight/anything can screw me up. With my truck, I'm definitely more flexible.

Seems like 5 days of traveling across the country would expose you to a lot more risk of accident or covid than a 4 hour flight

I traveled to another state recently and it was a super pleasant experience. A few people in the small motel, people in town welcomed me. Did some hiking and skiing and wasn't exposed to any more people than I usually am. Moab was about 10% of what it usually is in terms of people biking and hiking

Saying "STAY AT HOME JERK" while you go buy groceries and drive your car all over and have food delivered to you and you go to your 'essential' job doesn't seem any different to me. You don't even have to go to busy Zion, the whole of southern UT looks just like Zion and there aren't any people there

@emblem_boy For hiking? It's still pretty snowy

The best mountains are the San Juans, theres a classic loop to drive with lots of stuff to do (pre corona) Durango, Ouray, Telluride area

Theres a balance to be struck between being controlled by fear and travelling to a different state for a vacation.

Is going on a vacation bad? Id say its irresponsible given the state of the US right now. Nothing stopping you from going at a later date.
