I wonder why there is such disparity between reports that tech jobs are some of the most satisfying versus my friends who acknowledge it is a lot of drudgery.

I suspect the dissidents I know either stand out culturally or just are smart enough to see past the facade of "progress" these companies wear.

Most people don't know how to spot red flags during interviews
When I quit my last job I turned down like 15 jobs just because of minor things.
It was mostly their attitude towards other employees there or they had an ego about how important they were

IT support for what I'm doing now is amazing wouldn't trade it for anything even with the amount of garbage from "let's all move to online learning, IT you have less than a day to get 30 computers set up" because I was smart enough to set them up before hand from getting the minutes from meetings and having someone there delivering messages for me.

You hate your job due to the monotony more than anything I think

A construction worker after years of physical labor would probably enjoy just sitting all day, vice versa for a guy in an office.

That's more or less the Jimmy Carter plan, and he's still doing construction at 95, several decades after having any need to do so.

Putt's law: "Technology is dominated by two types of people, those who understand what they do not manage and those who manage what they do not understand."

Putt's Corollary: "Every technical hierarchy, in time, develops a competence inversion." with incompetence being "flushed out of the lower levels" of a technocratic hierarchy, ensuring that technically competent people remain directly in charge of the actual technology while those without technical competence move into management.

This is so true it hurts. Ive only been in one situation where my boss knew more than me and thats cause he worked his way up into that position and management trusted him.

same in an office w/ bad diet, but its your insides that break down instead of your outsides (arteries slowly clogging, etc.)
