Nyamko Sabuni hasnt even been leader of the Liberal party here in Sweden for 12 months. The party was struggling before her and she hasnt given the party the lift they hoped for. Today, the same day as a major poll was released with abysmal numbers for the Libs, a huge story about her letting lobbyists control her politics hits and the party is holding internal crisis talks and she must explain herself.

Im willing to bet this was released to the press by desperate party members who want her gone.

Sabuni has been invisible so far and lobbyism of this kind is corruption imo but ousting her wont save the party.

In a left leaning country that already has strong social safety nets and universal healthcare, what do left-wing politicians want? A STRONGER safety net? UBI?

What level of lobbying? Probably significantly less than literally any US Rep or Senator, as well as any State Rep or Senator in any US state

Some info: our Liberal party is centre-right, they got many Classic Liberalism ideas.

Some of our Left-leaning politicians work to preserve the safety nets and try to restore some that got weakened or removed during the Right-wing Reinfeldt administration of 2006-2014. Then there is the Far-Left party which used to openly call itself communistic. They would totally support UBI.

Some of the lobbying that happens in the US would be out right illegal here - it would fall under the anti-corruption laws. Nyamko Sabuni has been working closely with certain PR-firms in a way that doesnt look good at all. They have told her to present some specific proposals but what she has gotten in return is unknown (at least to the public so far).

I'm willing to bet that too. Haven't been following this story very closely but I don't really think very highly of the Liberals and they really are in deep shit, so it makes sense to try and oust the party leader that was already a bit controversial right?

Also, I read somewhere long ago that lobbying is actually a lot less regulated in Sweden than in the US, meaning we know less about what's actually going on. Does that make sense?

Lobbybyrn Nordic PA ledde Sabunis partiledarkampanj i utbyte mot att hennes frsta politiska projekt var att lansera en elektrifieringskommission. Detta hade efterfrgats av Scania som r en av Nordic PAs kunder.
Och det r vl i stort sett allt som hon har gjort.

The article gives a decent description of the things imo. The party doesn't like her. According to them she's going rogue and isn't popular and that bothers them more than lobbying. Which makes sense. Lobbying is part of being a politician.
