This has always driven me crazy. Personally, I use semi- for twice in the period and bi- for every other, but always begrudgingly elaborate.

Reminds me of how flammable and inflammable mean the same thing.

For some reason, I saw this title and ready that word as bimothy. As in Timothy with a B.

Twice a month is called biweekly.
