It's been very quiet on the localization front for this game, but with this, I'd say we can expect news of a western release date very soon!

For those not in the loop, this is the game that changes genre - it's a JRPG now, and by all accounts it looks glorious.

Don't really know much about this outside of the rpg thing. Can't see it being as good as the other games though. I love turn based combat but not in a Yakuza game.

I'm honestly not sure since I've gone purposefully dark on the game. It's being presented as a fresh start for the series but I'm sure there's a ton of tie-ins regardless as usual. Plus since this is a completely different genre than the others, it's not going to be the best representation of the series no matter what.

If you're at all curious about the series, you can't ask for a better starting point (or a better game period) than Yakuza 0!

Likely because there have been 7 main games and a spin off game (even more than that counting remakes and Japan-only titles) all with the same formula! Can hardly blame the team for wanting to try something fresh.

likely a combination of a decline in sales in Japan and creative inspiration fueled by beginning a new saga. it's a really good time for Nagoshi and co. to play around with new ideas. maybe they come around to a new cadence of releases, one in this new style and the other continuing Judgement's story in the old style. who knows!

I also think the battle system looks like a lot of fun, and retains the most important part of its old fighting system, the heat actions.

moving away from Kamurocho would require a larger development investment and take longer to release. It's why the games have been set primarily there. Yakuza games are the closest thing video games have to a procedural, at least since the IGAvanias went away. we should expect them to cut corners where they can.

Yeah, I'm very much a fan of letting them try stuff like this with the main series now that it's a new arc, while keeping the old gameplay alive in Judgment.

Judgment was an absolute treasure. Can't believe how good that game ended up. If they want to do more of the classic style in sequels to that game and have Ichiban run the JRPG show I'd be happy as a clam.
