you can't have a gay character or a lesbian character in a video game, or you're "pushing an agenda."

if your main character is hispanic or black, it's "pandering." if there's another character who's white and happens to be a villain, or is otherwise painted in a negative light, then it's anti-white racism.

if there's a long-established franchise like soul calibur or final fantasy or metroid, and the female characters haven't got their titties on parade in a new game, it's the industry bending over for SJWs, of course.

Eh, not exactly trying to take their side, but they aren't 100% wrong.

Diverse characters whose main trait is their diversity tend to come off as lame and/or pandering.

I think in the greater scheme of things writers want to be inclusive, but may be lazy, uncreative, or just easily fall into tropes of the hard working minority overcoming the privileged white males that keep them down.

I should be able to criticize a character without being accused of being an anti SJW.

These characters need to be critiqued on a case by case basis.

Idk about games tbh. I only follow games more loosely. I will definitely defend Ellie from TLoU, because I feel she is a very well done character and she is one of the more high profile ones.

My experience more so pertains to film characters. There have been plenty of female driven movies in the last handful of years that were worthy of criticism for non antiSJW reasons. Films like Ghostbusters, Charlie's Angels, and Captain Marvel.

Artists can't win with these people. If anyone dares to write an original character that just happens to be LGBT or progressive, it's "SJW bullshit"

From 2014 till now, yes it has been left wing activists pushing to politicise games from anita sarkeesian to Kotaku.

Rightwingers had given up trying to change games when they failed in the 90s.

That was got criticized by the trans community and ended up being patched out of the game lol. But still she's an incredibly minor NPC.
