I grew up on Crash Bandicoot, its the series that started my love for gaming when I was a kid. I played Spyro a tiny bit as a kid but never owned any of them.

I always heard how great they were if you liked Crash so I downloaded the reignited trilogy recently and Im finding it really boring. I got 100% on the first one and Im like 5 levels into the 2nd one and Im not really feeling it. Its just sooo simple and not challenging at all.

thanks for reading my blog

I used to really love Spyro. The third game is one of the few games I've actually 100%'d. That said, I couldn't get back into it with the remastered trilogy. Like Crash, I think the Spyro games are very "of their time" and don't have much appeal anymore.

They were great as a kid. Just like Crash. Though, going back may not be the best. I haven.this tried the remasters of either. I want to, but rather not. Ill just remember the fun I had as a kid... Plus, I dont like spending money...

I need the spiritual successor with lots of movement tech, but the originals are kind of kids games.

Was never interested in either series as a kid.

I bought the N Sane Trilogy when it came to Switch and loved it. Even bought CTR remake and loved that as well.

Spyro doesn't seem as interesting IMO though.

boring and empty

I've been wanting to play the reignited trilogy. I missed the humble bundle sale when Spyro and Crash were super cheap and I haven't felt the motivation to purchase them since.

Best thing about the original Spyro games was the music and discovering all the secrets for 100% completion. I liked the first game the most but critically I think Year of the Dragon was the best. I didn't care for the extra characters even when I was a kid.

I've always preferred Crash but Spyro is pretty good too. How was your experience getting 100% in Tree Tops? That level was fun but oddly demanding compared to everything else in the game.

Before the internet was common there was something called Playstation Underground. I think it was like digital magazines or something.

There was also something that explained that tree top secret but I can't find it on youtube. Or maybe I'm remembering that from something else. I remember watching the process as a kid and still having a hard time.

You know what, you are right as I look back at it now they did suck. Like I enjoyed Crash better and before Crash, it was Mario and sonic in my youth.

I love both Crash and Spyro then and still do now. Even more so now we have the remasters and my Niece and Nephews are into them.

I honestly can't get into either Crash or Spyro. I find Spyro empty at times, and just ridiculously easy. Crash is okay, just not fun to me.

On the flip side, my wife loves Spyro. It's one of her favorite series of games. She named her rabbit Spyro.

I always liked Crash and never liked Spyro, so I definitely don't disagree, though I'm not sure I'd say Spyro sucked, but I definitely don't enjoy the style.
