Seems like a waste of money. Plus without sports all of these schools are going to suffer huge losses in revenue, who knows how theyll survive.

Im supposed to start my freshman year in August but Im not sure I want to waste 1-2 semesters of GI Bill money.

This sure sucks guys.

From what I've read, the big losses in revenue are gonna be the international students who now are prohibited from coming here.

Sports and shuttered student housing are definitely bleeding universities too.

I feel like part of the fun of university is the whole university campus experience. That and having a decent name so that employers don't chuck your CV/application in the bin (metaphorically that is... they'd really just be using auto cull).

$20K is still the tuition? Honestly, I'd consider holding off on going back to school to see how the tuition will play out, unless you're going for a degree your career needs. The stock market is not gonna be pumping forever when unemployment rates are skyrocketing. There's no way schools can keep playing the same overcharging they used to in this new environment.

Eh I can see it for an associate's degree if you can transfer it to a 4 year university bachelor's degree. All online courses for bachelors and beyond seems like it would be hard though.

It's weird to me that people still have this stigma about online programs. A lot of reputable universities have very reputable online programs these days.

I do feel bad for students who paid specifically for in-person lectures and whatnot since you're not getting what's advertised, but that doesn't ruin the validity of online courses.

But can Universities still expect students to pay that full tuition amount for online only classes?

I havent heard many universities saying they would lower tuition costs if a semester is going to be online only.

Online only courses still cost a premium at those reputable schools. I do see an argument for lowering costs a little bit, but ultimately I don't think it makes that big of a difference - they're still paying a professor to deliver the same quality of education that you're paying for to attend that school.

And their operating costs are going to shift - maybe they're going to save money on electricity by not running physical classrooms, but I'm sure they have to pay for software licenses now that they didn't have to before.

20k is just the average cost in the US for public universities.

Yeah Ive thought about taking at least a semester off to see where the chips fall.
