The cheaper the better as well. Thinking Farcry 4 since it's on sale for 7 bucks.

Far Cry 4's co-op is really, really limited. Even Far Cry 5's left a lot to be desired - progress was only saved for the host.

If you want a game like that - open world, lotsa action but with the option of sneaking - get Ghost Recon: Wildlands. It will. not. disappoint.

If you want something a little more niche, Clandestine was pretty fun. It's almost like Alias - one player takes on the role of the female operator who is on the ground trying to sneak past security systems and plant remote access bugs on computers and stuff, and the other player is tactical support - they can see through the security cameras to help guide the operator through the level, plus they can hack into the computers to unlock doors, steal documents, stuff like that. It encourages active communication and teamwork, plus the premise was just kind of fun even if it was ultimately a simple game.

For free you might also check out

Warframe - third person shooter/RPG - lot of it takes place on spacestations but there are also planet surfaces to explore and they recently added ships to build and control

Path of Exile - Diablo-like action RPG

Secret World Legends - third person "shared world RPG" - it uses an MMO-style skill and progression system, but it has a large variety of missions from stealthy sabotage stuff to really indepth investigative-types where you have to solve in-game puzzles oftentimes using real world references from websites or books. Plus the setting is awesome. Don't recommend it for the endgame at all but as an RPG that you can play co-op it's definitely worth it.

Thanks for the heads up on farcry multiplayer. That's the main reason I didn't want to get Dark souls 3. I have the game and best it already but didn't want to play the game with my friend and then re do the level alone to catch up to him.

The hunting aspect of farcry seemed like a lot of fun for multiplayer.

River City Girls is a short and sweet one (though you'll have to use Steam's Remote Play Together feature. only the host needs the game, and they will need a decent Internet connection).

Oh, nevermind then. Unless you have at least an above-average PC.

@salandrews Far Cry 4's co-op was just not fully developed - you're limited to open world exploration and side missions.

In Far Cry 5 it's a full co-op, so you can play all the missions and everything together except for the opening sequence, but yeah the progress doesn't save (or it didn't at launch - could be worth checking into that).

The good thing for GR Wildlands is that progress **does** save for all players. Plus, missions are repeatable and the host's game dictates what's available - say you do all the minor side missions in one region but your friend didn't. You join his game and you can replay those minor side missions. All the story and major side missions are repeatable, too (you can start them from the menu after you finish them).

I do not recommend Breakpoint at all.

And then Warframe and Path of Exile are on PS4 (and free >_>)

Ok then farcry 5 might not be out of the question yet. I beat the game already so I don't care about progress I just want a free roam game with something fun to do.

I'll check the price on GR wildlands
