@BudDupree48

I think you were some of the ones who couldn't get through before. It was giving me the Payment Status Not Available message every day, but this morning I was finally able to add my ACH info.

It is a bit silly that they don't have my bank information on file when they easily withdrew money from my bank account

Fuckers

You'd think they'd make the people who owed money a priority...not the ones who already got a fat check earlier this year.

It is because if they owe you money they keep your info in case they figure out they gave you too much money for some reason they can automatically take it out.

If you owe them and pay them they don't keep your information because once you paid them they don't need that info anymore.

The only excuse you could make for giving the people owed is the fact that if you have a shitty part time job you typically always end up being owed.

States are able to request and be granted no interest loans from the federal government to fund their unemployment funds as needed.

So again, if you need to pay rent you should be applying for unemployment not waiting for a one time check.

Idk how other states are but at least in Nebraska several people I know who lost their jobs haven't been getting shit from unemployment, and they've been filing for weeks. The whole system is fucked right now.

Your own article said they have been drawn down 50% at most for the most underfunded states.

When it gets closer to being fully exhausted they are immediately replenished by requesting funding through the federal government.

So again, you apply for unemployment if you lose your job to pay your expenses. You're making up a fake issue for some reason.

Yes states are strained to process them so timing could be an issue. But once approved you will get all funds from when you were eligible so you talk to your landlord and let them know you're waiting to be approved for it.

Yep, I know several people in NY that haven't gotten shit from just regular UI. Forget about the PUA, which not a single person has gotten. Most applied in March.

A lot also haven't gotten the stimulus, which can REALLY help people while they wait for unemployment.

The stimulus check system got out 80 million checks for $147 billion with only $2.6 billion being returned for wrong/closed accounts as part of the first batch of payments. Considering they're basically reverse engineering a way to get payments out ASAP to as many people as possible, it's not very broken to me. By the end of the month they should be getting out the first paper checks and payments to social security recipients so by end of April hopefully they get out maybe 75-80% of payments.

But if you have issues paying rent, that means you (probably) lost your job so you should be applying for unemployment, not relying on the stimulus check to pay rent for an extended period.

Then they should tell their landlord they are waiting to get approved, and when they do they will get UI from filing and the PUA from April onward to pay rent. It is backed up but they will get approved and receive funds so it's gonna be a timing issue at first but after that they will be able to claim their weekly payments.

Rent is not the only issue. There's tons of other things that money can be useful for. I expect the feds to handle shit better than states.

And lol at the notion of telling a landlord to wait. They don't give a fuck. I don't know what planet you're living on.

I mean what other way do you get direct deposit information to send out stimulus? This way they got out a good chunk of it by mid April, and now can start sending out other batches of Direct deposit or paper checks to get it to the rest.

And NY has frozen evictions for 3 months so landlords can either (1) work with tenants to get partial payment and wait for unemployment to kick in to get the rest or (2) try to evict, and lose out on almost a year or more of rent waiting for the moritorium to end, then getting the case to the court, while the tenant doesn't pay rent.

Because people are still not able to enter their direct deposit information and that site has been live for two weeks.

Companies like Google and Microsoft can handle all this easily, but most of the country runs on antiquated systems AND methods. This applies to the state level too. In NY, they want you to talk to someone, just so you can get a fax number, to fax extra documents. While there is a portal available with an online messaging system. You can't reach anyone unless you make it your job to call all day.

It's not that simple. A lot of people in NYC live in places that are considered illegal and landlords will just use intimidation tactics like getting a bunch of gang members to scare you to leave. I've seen it happen too much.

Even then, I'm not making the argument about it paying the rent. The $1200 can go a very long way for shit like food and other smaller bills.

I somewhat get your point, but I feel like you're coming from a suburban and/or ignorant POV.
