Decided to replay it because I have far more interest in the OG than the remake and I never noticed how inappropriately Barret is depicted.
He is angry for no reason constantly, his face fixed in a permanent scowl but most ridiculous is that he constantly beats on his chest. He lectures Cloud, beats his chest, Cloud doesn't want to hear his nonsense, gets mad and beats his chest, I just got back from blowing the first reactor and when you get back to Tifa's bar he runs in, clears the place out by shooting in the air, then chases everyone out and starts beating on his chest like a gorilla again.
