I gained almost 20 lbs during this lockdown. I haven't worked out in years. I have all kinds of equipment to do work.

I just honestly have no idea what I should be doing
I have free weights and then a stomach incline/decline bench. I also have one of those core balls.

I was thinking basic calisthenics bit how many and what type?
I remember from my weight training days you vary muscle groups each day but I think with pushups, sit ups, etc you just do every day.
I also have a heavy/speedbag. Mix that in?

Any help or even just a link to a good beginner workout plan would be appreciated.

a simple bodyweight only routine

https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/wiki/faq

https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/comments/enn869/progress_1_year_recommended_routine_m2360162/

any routine works as long as it's balanced and you do more than last time, there are different routines in the r/bodyweightfitness wiki

If you'd prefer to use your weights, here are some routines for that https://www.reddit.com/r/weightroom/wiki/faq#wiki_programming

I just do pushups and pullups and planks twice a week... 1-2 hours each session.
No weights. Nothing. Just high reps.

been doing that for around 5 years already
and yet I still have a V-shaped body with 6 pack abs.

No idea what's with this ridic. obsession over workout plans. Just do bodyweight exercises bro. All this time I hardly exercise and eat whatever junk crap I want lol

yeah I just spam pullups like him except I dont use any weights. Oh, and I eat whatever fried/sugary crap I can get my hands on.

Still got my 6-pack abs after 5 years of not giving a s*** and maintaining the same weight all this time (ok I did lose like 10kg in the middle of the last 2 years or so).

But seriously, it's not hard. Once you've reached a peak in musculuarity...it kinda just....stays there so long as you remain consistent. I've gone back to the gym months after not visiting and could still bench the same weight as I did 7 years ago (back when I was a gym obsessed rat)

If your goal is weight loss, start counting calories; put yourself on a mild deficit by capping your calories on a per meal basis.

Lifting/running/whatever is auxiliary.

same I only run and do pullups and after 4 years of zero gym work I could still deadlift 2x bodyweight easily

see, proof that gym programmes and whatnot random weird various workout regimes and exercises are absolutely redundant.

here's the funny thing. I didn't even try. I was only that heavy because I literally stuffing myself with food on purpose.
As soon I just ate normally and whenever I felt like it, my weight just plummeted. My abs stayed on though :))

The first question I always ask. What are you eating?
I realized I've gone from an almost Keto diet to a LOT of carbs. I'm having some trouble locking down and commuting to high protein, low carb diet but I'm trying.

10+ lbs of that is probably water weight due to increased intake in carbs and sodium, and will be shed just as quickly as you put it on once you're back on track.

I know it is about eating more than work out. It's really hard now. My kids are on me all the time so I find myself eating lime 5 meals with them.

when I want to lose weight I remove all carbs and replace them with vegetables

pasta and meat? a crapload of broccoli and meat

rice and chicken? kale, green beans, and chicken

Skinny but with a belly.
I'm older so my metabolism has definitely slowed down. I just need to cut those carbs and not do things like eat 3 hotdogs for lunch with chips and some of my kids kool-aid.

I can do this but man the eating is a killer. I also like energy drinks so that's going to be a tough one.
